New works from SEEDBED, currently showing @mirror_plymouth
⁣
Across time and cultures, vegetation has become a metaphor for change and renewal. In Greek myth, Daphne escapes Apollo’s pursuit by transforming into a laurel tree. She takes root and becomes something other. That’s her salvation. And in the medieval romance of Tristan and Isolde, the lovers are reunited from their graves as two trees that grow and entwine.⁣
⁣
These kinds of stories show us that transformation often involves surrender and loss alongside the shedding of an old form.⁣
⁣
These cast glass works speak these narratives of the porous boundary between the human and the botanical and a longing or birthing into a new way of being.⁣

⁣
On view until 11 December 2026.⁣
