POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 By @virginia.l.evans

This book was gorgeous 😍

Such an interesting read, the whole story is written entirely by letters (and the odd email) and must have taken a huge amount of planning to do, it was so well crafted ♡
I’ll admit it took me a wee while to get into because there are a fair amount of characters/receivers of letters but I then switched to the audio version and I adored it, the many different voice actors did an amazing job at bringing the characters to life, I loved recognising the voice and realising who it was before the end of the letter.
You can hear the emotions, the longing, the regret, the grief, the excitement, the connections through every correspondence and Sybil Van Antwerp now has a place in my heart where I leave room for my most treasured characters (Shuggie, Betty, Mungo, Demon, Lennie & Margot all reside there too 😂).
Highly recommend this one
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Now, who wants to start a pen pal club 😂

Wild Dark Shore by @charlottemcconaghy

It’s been a while since I cried when reading but eesh this one got me a good’un!!

“But here is the nature of life. That we must love things with our whole selves, knowing they will die.”

What an absolutely stunning book, the writing, the characters, the unique storyline, it was haunting and oh so atmospheric. There’s a slow burn tension to it which keeps you turning the page. It explores family connections, survival, love, grief, climate change and the human impact on it, hope, isolation, healing - honestly this book has it all!

Big fat 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 from me 🥰

‘A family on a remote island. A mysterious woman washed ashore. A storm gathering force.

Dominic Salt and his three children are caretakers of Shearwater, a tiny weather-lashed island that is home to the world’s largest seed bank. As Shearwater risks being lost to rising sea levels, the island’s researchers have fled, and only the Salts remain.

Until, during the worst storm in living memory, a stranger washes ashore. The family nurse the woman, Rowan, back to strength, but it seems she isn’t telling the whole truth about why she’s there. And when Rowan stumbles upon sabotaged radios and a recently dug grave, she realises that she’s not the only one on the island with a secret.

A novel of breathtaking twists and dizzying beauty, Wild Dark Shore is about the impossible choices we make to protect the people we love.’

It’s Sunday again & I have had the best reading week 😍📚

I’ve got three books on the go & they are all fabulous - it's hard to know which one to pick up because they're all so good 😅.

currently reading 》》 The Things we Never Say, The Perks of being a Wallflower & Whistler 📖

I’m hoping to get at least 2 finished today because it's my day off & of course I'm spending it reading 🤓

and while all this excellent reading has been happening, these 4 books somehow managed to catch my eye at the bookshop this week & had to come home with me - my TBR was obviously looking far too manageable 🫠

Have you read any of these? Any on your tbr? Tell me which one you would pick up first - they all sound amazing 😍

Project Hail Mary by @andyweirofficial

👽This is not an April Fool’s joke - ya girl read a sci-fi book and bloomin loved it!!

Don’t get me wrong a lot of the science and maths equations went right over my head with me nodding along like I understood but I was wholly invested in not just the story but the surprisingly beautiful friendship between Ryland Grace 🧑🏼‍🚀 and Rocky 👽

The book was fantastically written blending science and space solving problems with laugh out loud and truly heartfelt moments and I even shed a few tears!
Highly recommend this one 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

‘A lone astronaut.
An impossible mission.
An ally he never imagined.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the earth itself will perish.

Except that right now, he doesn’t know that. He can’t even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it.

All he knows is that he’s been asleep for a very, very long time. And he’s just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

His crewmates dead, his memories fuzzily returning, Ryland realizes that an impossible task now confronts him. Hurtling through space on this tiny ship, it’s up to him to puzzle out an impossible scientific mystery-and conquer an extinction-level threat to our species.

And with the clock ticking down and the nearest human being light-years away, he’s got to do it all alone.

Or does he?’

💙 November Wrap Up 🩵

Only 3 books for me in November which leaves me just 1 month to try and hit my years reading goal by reading 8 books 🤪 somehow I don’t think I’ll achieve it and actually I’m ok with that! I read because I enjoy it, it helps to relax my busy brain and I don’t want books to ever feel like a chore by putting pressure on myself!

My favourite this month (and probably one of my favs of the year) was Demon Copperhead by @barbara.kingsolver - a chonky one but sooooo worth it!!

How did you all get on? And any recommendations of short books to help me through December?! 🧐🫠
