Palate Cleanser, oh my sweet baby. What started as a concept while walking around the Gathering Place became a short film that took my team and I across the country. This experience was so much more than a film. I couldn’t have done this on my own. I think more important than knowing your strengths is to know your weakness. I’m not a director. Never have been. Maybe one day. But I knew Tori was. She had drive. Experience. An aesthetic vision. I knew she could do what I couldn’t, and that goes for the rest of our team. The final minute of our film was shot in haste as we had an hour left at our location to get everything. I was biting my nails, trying to so hard to let our cast and crew do what we hired them to do. And they absolutely fucking did. John’s beautiful camera work gave our film a unique look. Amandela’s set dec was spot on. Charla covered every blind spot we had so we could focus on the craft. Bobby’s edit found the microscopic moments to build the flavor we needed. Geoffrey’s score made me cry multiple times because I didn’t know what it felt like to hear the identity of something I wrote. It takes a village. Even beyond the short, I had help. Yes, I wrote drafts. Hundreds of pages after it’s all said and done. I sent it off to friends who devoted hours to reading and dissecting this patchwork draft 1. Tori helped to get this script in front of extremely seasoned writers to give me more advice. Because of those people, I rebuilt it again and again, getting more eyes on it until I was done rebuilding. Now I’m just tweaking it. I have so many people to thank, but without Tori coming on and consistently encouraging me, this short may not have even happened, much less the feature. Her name isn’t on the script, but she worked so hard to make sure people knew mine was. We are who we surround ourselves with. Palate Cleanser has taken me places where I can see my peers’ work and be inspired. I am spoiled rotten by the talents of my team. I am gifted the company of wonderful people who want to see their friends win. I have been blessed with the responsibility of pursuing my dreams, and it would be a disservice not to keep going.

Raise a glass with us to the FINAL festival screening of "Palate Cleanser" — rounding out our incredible run at the 12th Annual Footcandle Film Festival in North Carolina. WHEN Friday, Sept. 25th, 2026 7:00 PM Short Film Showcase (We're in Block 2 at 10pm, but right before — after the 7pm Block 1 — there will be a Q&A where our producer, Charla, will be in attendance.) WHERE Hickory Community Theatre 30 Third St NW Hickory, NC 28601 We've been blown away by the response to our film over the past year. From world premiering in our hometown at @deadcenterfilm, to hitting both coasts in one week to screen in LA AND NYC, it has been beyond humbling to reach audiences nationwide who were touched by the message of our film. An abundance of very special memories have been made. Now that our festival tour is coming to an end, we will start sharing more reflections of our experiences, all leading up to a public online release so anyone is able to watch it anywhere in the world! More on that to come soon. We want to thank @footcandlefilm for including us in this year's lineup and helping us celebrate a 15 month run with over a dozen selections and a handful of awards/nominations. The feature script is beginning to receive its own accolades, and we're ready to bring this full story to life. Come hungry. Leave horrified. These filmmakers were PANELLING at The Remission Film Fest. It’s always awesome to hear why filmmakers make what they make, but specifically to the mission of this festival; it was a gorgeous and touching conversation. 🫶🏻 Thanks to all who joined us up on stage. 🎤💚 📸 Phoebe Chase

What a wild past year. It was full of ups, downs, and of course, lots of shenanigans. I got to see a lot of new places, make some amazing art, and work with a lot of talented, passionate, amazing people. I threw together this very rough, very quick recap as just a glimpse of some of my favorite projects from the past year. I hope this year brings lots of new experiences with all of my favorite creatives and I hope to get to work with new ones as well. Happy new year to all! #cinematography #directorofphotography #newyear #happynewyear #2025recap
