I met and photographed Carlo yesterday in the North Laine, Brighton. I noticed his sense of style, but was really struck by his easy-going charm. More details on my latest Substack, link in bio. Thank you, Carlo, it was a pleasure meeting you. #northlainebrighton #brighton #style #brightonstyle #streetportraits

Brighton PRIDE Parade 2026!

SO much joy!! An incredibly fun and celebratory day dancing together as allies & queer community through the streets of Brighton!!! 🌈🌞💗🌟🏳️‍🌈🦋

We applied, fundraised and worked as a team to make it happen! Thank you so much to everyone involved!

From our parade application:

We believe Ecstatic Dance Brighton is an ideal entry because we embody the parade’s message of unity and liberation. Our entry is being organised specifically because our community members asked for it, they want to take the joy and freedom they feel on our dance floor and share it with the streets of Brighton!

Dance is a universal language that transcends labels. Our message is simple: dance unites us all. We want to demonstrate that when you strip away judgment, you find a community that is vibrantly diverse and fiercely supportive.

Our community is known for its exuberant, creative expression. A group of people dancing with total freedom sends a powerful message of health, happiness, and queer joy.

Our participation represents a grassroots movement. We aren’t just a business; we are a collective of Brighton locals who believe that everyone deserves a space to be their truest self, both on and off the dance floor.

We create a sober sanctuary, as much queer community centres around bars and clubs, we provide a sober drug free space where the only thing that matters is the connection to the music and one another. 💓🌈🪩🍃

An absolute pleasure and honour to take part this year, we hope to be back agaiiinnn!!! 🌟💗🏳️‍🌈💗🌟#ecstaticdance #pride #brightonpride

So I thank you for what you did, your silence spoke the language of love that I never knew I needed ❤️

I am forever baffled by the paradox of life, and how every time I breathe more joy and love into my life, I am met with an equal amount of grief, and still I choose to keep my heart open, and to meet the fullness of life over and over again.. to cradle myself in moments where the only thing I really know to be the source of my sadness, is grieving the version of myself I must let go of to step even more fully into my own joy and heart.

The heart must be cracked open to let love in.. ❤️

Thank you @thesoundsofdusk for providing this amazing space just a couple minutes from my front door and for singing with me.. to sing and to be witnessed is really one of the biggest privileges and pleasures ☺️

Some people arrive
like architecture for the soul.
Not loudly.
Not with grand declarations.
But with a quiet spaciousness
that makes the guarded parts of you
set down their weapons
before you have asked them to.
There are certain eyes
that feel like dusk remembering gold.
A warm, amber hush
held at the edge of someone’s gaze,
watching you become honest
without turning away.
And in that gaze,
something ancient in me exhales.
The mask loosens.
The perfected face,
the clever face,
the face trained
to make ache articulate
and pain aesthetically survivable -
falls softly to the floor.
And I am there.
Uncaptioned.
Uncurated.
Unmade.
A trembling constellation
of wound and wonder,
still somehow worthy
of being held.
What a rare intelligence,
to love without possession.
To listen
not as interrogation,
but as sanctuary.
To offer advice
like a lantern,
not a blade.
To sit beside another person’s unraveling
with enough tenderness
to let it become revelation.
I think this is love too.
Not the labelled kind.
Not the kind
that must be filed neatly
under romance, friendship, family, forever.
But love as atmosphere.
Love as nervous system
softening.
Love as the holy permission
to stop performing safety
and finally feel it.
I love love
before it explains itself.
The hand that steadies.
The voice that says,
go on, I’m here.
The eyes that meet your shadow
and do not mistake it
for your whole name.
How miraculous,
that in a world
so often fluent in distance,
there are still people
who become warm rooms
inside the weather.
People who remind you
that sanctuary
was never only stone walls
or sacred ground.
Sometimes
sanctuary is a person
whose presence says:
you can fall apart here
and still be beautiful.
You can be unarmoured here
and still be safe.
You can be human here
and still be loved.
And maybe that is the quietest miracle
of all -
that love does not always arrive
to define itself.
Sometimes
it simply sits beside you
in the ruins,
glowing,
and proves
that nothing real
needs a name
to be holy.

Thank you, Carlo, for being such a gentle, welcoming presence in my life and for capturing this moment ✨️
