Why Summertime is the Best Time for Healing and Rejuvenation With the summer equinox quickly approaching with its longer days and warmer temperatures, is often considered an optimal season for healing and rejuvenation.
•
Both Western medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) offer many reasons why summer is ideal for health and wellness.
•
Here’s why summer is perfect for optimal health:
1. Natural Vitamin D Boost: Sunlight exposure increases Vitamin D production in the skin, essential for bone health, immune function, and mood regulation. Adequate Vitamin D levels reduce the risk of various diseases, including osteoporosis and depression.

2. Increased Physical Activity: The pleasant weather encourages outdoor activities like walking, swimming, and gardening. Regular physical activity improves cardiovascular health, enhances mood through endorphin release, and supports overall physical fitness.

3. Enhanced Mental Health: Longer daylight hours reduce symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and promote a positive mental state. Sunlight exposure also boosts serotonin levels, which helps improve mood and reduce anxiety.

4. Detoxification: Warmer temperatures promote sweating, a natural detoxification process that helps expel toxins from the body. This can improve skin health and overall bodily functions.

5. Abundant Fresh Produce: Summer provides an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables, rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. A diet high in fresh produce supports immune function, skin health, and overall well-being.

6. Connection with Nature: Spending time in nature reduces stress, lowers blood pressure, and improves mood. Activities like hiking, picnicking, and beach visits allow for relaxation and mental rejuvenation.

7. Social Connections: Summer often brings more opportunities for social interactions through vacations, barbecues, and outdoor events. Strong social connections are linked to better mental health and longevity
•
Embrace the healing power of summer by staying active, enjoying fresh foods, and connecting with nature and loved ones. Your body and mind will thank
you!

Very grateful to be included in Aventura Magazine’s “Healing Havens” feature and to see Helia House recognized among so many beautiful wellness spaces in South Florida.

Creating Helia House was deeply personal for me. I wanted to build a quiet, thoughtful space where women could feel supported while navigating fertility, hormones, autoimmune conditions, skin health, long COVID recovery, and the many layers of healing that often go unseen.

As someone who has practiced Chinese and integrative medicine for more than 30 years, I’ve always believed that environment matters. The light, the air, the materials, the energy of a space, and the feeling of safety all play a role in how we heal.

Thank you to my favorite @mserinsita for including me in this special piece. I’m honored to be mentioned alongside everyone featured, and friend @karladascal .

Thank you, @aventuramagazine , for sharing the story of Helia House.

Story, Erin Newberg, editor @thejdpwrites.

Last night, Ocean Drive kicked off Miami Race Weekend with our annual F1 celebration at Selva inside @amazonico.mia , honoring May/June cover star @MarianneFonseca . The evening featured a surprise DJ set by @DrewTaggart, alongside sets by @LPGiobbi and @pietro.pizzorni. Guests enjoyed @MionettoProseccousa prosecco and specialty cocktails, with @lacroixwater keeping everyone refreshed throughout the night.
