Practically twins. JK. The two big races this weekend are about as different as two races can be. Chattajack (TN) is a 31 mile flatwater race on the Tennessee River. It sells out within moments of registration opening. In fact, the person who finishes first REGISTERING for the race is far better known than the team who finishes first paddling the race. Well, actually, that would be Robert Norman who is usually first across the line in both categories. Follow him for tips on how to be fast at registering and racing. Setting aside that you had mere minutes to register 6 months ago, it looks like a great event: huge crowds and a truly scenic section of water.

Then there is Russell Fork (VA/KY), which is a five-mile steep creek race in mountains of Virginiatucky. It's usually the warm-up for the Green, but the Green is a virtual event this year. That leaves Russell Fork as the closer. We're sure the stoke will be high.

There is a third race this weekend too: Homochitto (MS). It's for solo boats only. You can make it of a duathlon (running+paddling) or triathlon (running+biking+paddling) or you can just do the paddle. It takes place during the Homochitto River Festival but is not part of the Homochitto River Festival. I'm assuming you can go to both though. It's in Mississippi so definitely a flatwater/quickwater situation.

Who is going to @chattajack this weekend? Let us know in the comments. This year we are raffling off a Freedom dugout 14 x 24 with custom 2026 Chattajack Graphics, all raffle ticket proceeds will go to the Tennessee River Gorge Trust. How many raffle tickets will you be buying?

..this journey/story/adventure to ChattaJack 31, 2026 has been just a tad different…and yet, I’m more fit, less fat and more calm about my training than I have been since ‘96…October 1, 2026 No quitting “life happens”..that’s for sure, and I embrace “I am currently too Legit” the road to 62 has brought a lot of 🤩, one of my best ever paddles was 22miles, little flow, in 3:46: 👀So, keep shining paddle peeps, and don’t quit, #do it tired!! #doittired #iamcurrentlytoolegit #plankchallenge #eatallthetacos and eatallthebeaverchips
