Want to hear one life-changing discovery I made this weekend at the #iflead2020 conference?

We read about Jacob’s wrestling match with God in Genesis 32:22.

There is a one letter difference in the Hebrew words for wrestle and embrace.

Habaq—embrace. Abaq —wrestle.

Jacob is desperate for a blessing from God and isn’t afraid to have a throw-down with the One he knows can give him the answers he needs. He demands answers!

“Why God? Why is this happening? Prove yourself to me! Show up God!”

Sounds like a bad fight with your lover,
Right?

“I hate you! I love you! Come back and fight me! Go away!”

Can you imagine the embracing and wrestling that takes place? So fierce is Jacob’s quest for getting what He needs from God that God finally touches his hip and gently pulls it out of socket.

And God says- “Silly Jacob— I love you enough to fight you in this moment. I’ll let you hash it out because that’s what you need but don’t forget for one minute who I AM.”

The match ends with Jacob limping as the rising sun warms his face. Hip out of socket, blessing in tact. New name. New beginning.

I share this with you because maybe you’re like Jacob—-you’re asking God questions you’ve never asked before. Maybe you’re putting pressure on Him to look you in the eyes and prove His existence. Maybe you’ve thrown in some fighting words or even a few swings.

But God welcomes the passion and the honesty.

He is ready to wrestle you. Embrace you. Bless you.

He promises you that you’ll feel the warmth of the sun on your face and you will never be the same. ❤️
