Just minutes from Palmetto Bluff, @farmbluffton has deep ties to the community. Before opening FARM in 2016, founder Ryan Williamson began supplying produce from his family farm to Palmetto Bluff’s restaurants, where he developed a close relationship with then Executive Chef @chefbcarter. That relationship eventually helped inspire FARM, bringing Williamson’s love of local food, farming, and the Lowcountry to Old Town Bluffton.

Today, Brandon Carter serves as Executive Chef and Partner of FARM Bluffton, making it an important part of the local restaurant scene—and one of Chef Rhy Waddington’s recommendations for an evening in Bluffton.

The best chefs in the culinary world arrived in Chicago to attend the James @beardfoundation Awards. This is basically the “Oscars” of food! I was thrilled to be able to interview these talented chefs. Just being nominated is a huge accomplishment & something every great chef dreams about. After the award presentations, we celebrated their accomplishments with a huge party featuring some of the best bites in the world served by James Beard semifinalist & past winners.

Here are some of the delicious dishes we tried:

@karihaywardshaughnessy @haywardrestaurant Carlton, OR shared a fabulous fermented squash bread with fromage blanc & snap pea salad.

@chefjasminenorton @theurbanoyster Baltimore, MD served a crispy rice with marinated oyster, lemon crème fraîche & chive oil for a perfect bite.

@chef.lordfer.lalicon @kaya.orlando Orlando, FL made a tasty oxtail terrine with roasted peanut jus, bagoong caramel, soy-pickled eggplant, long bean relish, & sourdough pumpernickel pandesal.

Fasicka & Patrick Hicks @smokenashbbq Arlington, TX had a beautiful Ethiopian BBQ fusion of beef brisket burnt end-injera nachos.

Linda Huang @hummingbirdskitchen Bozeman, MT made a wood ear mushroom with tofu skin salad. This was a special appearance because the restaurant is only open 4 days a month.

@chefbcarter @commonthreadsav Savannah, GA had a wonderful May River blue crab with Carolina gold rice, sofrito, tiger salad, habanero, & crispy bits.

@chefniknocella @stalkrestaurant Dover, NH served a farm beet with toasted sesame aïoli, roasted cashews, mint, cilantro, togarashi, & ginger-mirin vinaigrette.

Giovanni Cervantes
@taqueria_ramirez_ Brooklyn, NY had a fabulous beef suadero confit, onion, cilantro, & salsa rosa on a corn tortilla.

My favorite bite was @chefdavidjackman @wildweed.cinci with a striped chicken tortelli with smoked shrimp, fried shallots, herb salad, & nuoc cham-style sauce.

I also loved the speakeasy room with cocktails from the famous @pdtnyc along with a lounge singer & piano player made possible by @americanexpress @resy. It was a spectacular way to end such an amazing weekend of culinary greatness.

Savannah showed up in the most delicious way.

Chefs + Farmers Savannah, held at the beautiful Ships of the Sea Museum, brought together an incredible group of chefs, farmers, and food lovers to celebrate the ingredients that feed our city every day.

Organized by Forsyth Farmers Market, this event raises vital funds to support local farmers and keep fresh, local food accessible to our community. We are grateful to be part of a city that shows up for grassroots restaurants, passionate chefs, farmers, and the dreamers who work hard to feed Savannah.

🌿 BARNSLEY RESORT 🌿

Tucked away in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountain, Barnsley Resort is the kind of place where you slow down, soak in the scenery. From historic ruins and beautiful gardens to cozy cottages and incredible dining, it’s the perfect escape just outside the city.

It was my pleasure to attend the James Beard & Friends Dinner at Jules bringing together talented chefs: @chefshaundoty, @chefbcarter , @chefdnutter, @cremalosa_gelato and Master Sommelier Michael McNeill for an unforgettable evening benefiting the James Beard Foundation. Each course celebrated creativity and seasonal ingredients.

We wrapped up the weekend with brunch at the newly updated Biergarten which was the perfect setting to linger a little longer before heading home.
