When @gingiechicago first opened in March, I declared that @chefbrianlockwood’s masterpiece of a new restaurant would be the restaurant of the summer in Chicago. Unfortunately, three days after it opened, a fire shuttered it until early September. However, Gingie is now back, better than ever and I’m fully confident in declaring it officially Chicago’s restaurant of the fall.

The food is a superb meld of Japanese, Italian and French influences, and no matter which section of the menu you order from, you’re ordering something extraordinarily delicious. The food is just superb from start to finish. The cocktail menu is a bit eclectic, so you have to choose correctly for your particular tastes, but I know what I like and picked the right drinks both before and after the fire, so I’ve loved both of my selections. I think it could truly be Chicago’s first restaurant in a minute to earn one @michelinguide star without a tasting menu in 2027 (they likely reopened too late for 2026).

Finally, the dining room is one of the most beautiful in Chicago. Gingie is the kind of place you don’t have to pick between dressing up for a beautiful night out and good food — you get both. I HIGHLY recommend a visit. 😍🤤🔥🥵🤯

Date night at @gingiechicago with my love @joacobrieva ❤️ ✨

What an incredible evening! We were so excited to finally experience Gingie, which reopened just two weeks ago after a fire in April cut its grand opening short.

A new @bokarestaurantgroup Boka collaboration with Chef-Partner @chefbrianlockwood, whose impressive background includes The French Laundry and Eleven Madison Park, and who served as a consulting chef for The Bear. So, honestly, it’s no surprise that Gingie is such a special place.

It was one of the best overall dining experiences and meals we’ve had in Chicago in a very long time.

Every detail was stunning — the décor, wall art, gorgeous mural by Chicago illustrator @ekparkinson, which is a beautiful love letter to Chicago’s legendary restaurant scene, with hidden references to many of the city’s iconic restaurants, gorgeous lighting fixtures and those incredibly cushy burgundy booths. The service was impeccable.

And the food… each dish better than the one before it and almost too beautiful to eat. The presentation was truly Michelin-worthy, and the flavours absolutely delivered.

We shared the Popcorn Shrimp, Little Gem Caesar, Ribeye, Grilled Whole Lobster & Black Pepper Tofu Rice - every dish an experience of its own. And we finished with the Chocolate Tart with salted caramel, brown butter and Chantilly cream - the perfect ending. ✨

Beautiful. Creative. Sophisticated. Fun.

Welcome back, Gingie. See you soon! 🥂✨❤️

@gingiechicago by @bokarestaurantgroup & @chefbrianlockwood is now open in Chicago! ✨ They were open for 3 days in March before closing due to a kitchen fire and are finally back! The menu is full of seasonal ingredients and classical techniques from around the world 🌎 We had so many hits, here were some of our favorite dishes —
🍤 Tempura Rock Shrimp Handroll Set
🍝 Tortelloni w/ Truffle & Corn
🥩 NY Strip w/ Ricotta Dumpling & Shiitake
🍫 Chocolate Tart
They also have a fabulous drink menu 🍸 Save some time to look at the hand painted mural that covers their main dining room — it includes many other past and present famous Chicago restaurants! 🌆
