2026 Mora Vasaloppet 51k - In a crazy turn of events, I did a nordic ski race this past weekend! Looking back, I was unable to ski last year due to ongoing ankle pain and the year prior was a poor snow year. So this was only my third nordic ski in the past 3 years! 🤯 I was nervous for sure, but also excited to try the sport I once lived for (burn out got me...😞). Chilly but clear weather greeted us in the morning and the town of Mora was booming with nordic excitement. I lined up somewhere in the mix and tried to remember how to put my skis and poles on (proud to say neither fell off, haha). Off we went! The course was generally flat with a lot of twists and turns. Groups of skiers started to form and it almost felt a little like crit racing at times. I skied in what was the third group or so on the trails with fellow Ski Hut speedster Nick. I was able to hold it together for 2/3 laps, but then my muscles realized how long it has been since being used in this manner. I went into baby giraffe mode, feeling a little goofy moving around the trail. Eventually, I pushed my way to the finish (27th place), tired but smiling. It took a moment to soak in the fact I just did a ski race on many levels: injury recovery, return to sport, atmosphere, and more. But I was happy I did. 👍 Post race, I felt so cool sitting at the lunch table with the other Duluth/Ski Hut superstars! Chelsea, Nick, and Tiff were flying out there!! Way to go crew and thanks for letting me join the cool kids table! Jury is still out if more ski racing is ahead, but for now, it felt good to be back! Huge thanks to The Ski Hut for getting me set up on some speedy new ski boards, zoom zoom!

Winter! Friends! Skiing! ❤️❤️❤️

Really excited to be able to have a good long training weekend on the South Shore in between stretches of night shifts. A year ago I could barely do 15km in a row!

The 51st Birkie is in the books! It was an awesome weekend of waxing and great results!

Our service team managed to wax for 400+ customers and wax skis for @gerardagnellet who was able to take home the win! We also waxed for Matt Liebsch -6th, @brianjgregg -18th, @caitlincgregg -4th @chels.93 -9th who all had awesome races!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hi at the Expo, start line ski pick up and post races festivities, and the demo!

Won more money cross country ski racing today at the Mora Vasaloppet. While I've been on the podium before, this was the first time since they added prize money for The Classic. Definitely star struck to share the stage with @rganderson and @chels.93 (Instagram didn't even exist when I was their age!)

Mora was my first ski marathon back in 2004 and I was hooked. Since then I've been fueling my body better, doing more strength, endlessly training, and have become a double pole specialist. I've learned that success happens when you discover what you're good at, get even better at it, and you keep showing up.

A huge thanks to my U of M teammates (from back in the day, including multiple time winner of the flagship skate race) and current Vakava team for inspiring and pushing me through the years and a special thank you to Dave C for inviting me to join Vakava.

And of course, a huge thanks to the Mora Vasaloppet for putting on another quality race.
