Congratulations to Olga Achmatowicz, a @chemcsu undergraduate and the recipient of the prestigious Astronaut Scholar Award!

The highly competitive scholarship recognizes exceptional undergraduate students in STEM who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, research accomplishments, and leadership potential.

Olga is an accomplished researcher and campus leader. In Associate Professor Jeffrey Bandar’s lab, she focuses on developing more accessible and cost-effective methods for organic synthesis. She also served as the @chemclubcsu outreach coordinator and demo specialist. 👩🏼‍🔬

It is a tremendous honor to announce @ColoradoStateUniversity’s six newest University Distinguished Professors.

Reserved for just 2% of tenured faculty, the title of University Distinguished Professor is one of the highest academic honors at CSU — earned through exceptional achievement in teaching, research and service. This year’s honorees join 19 active and 35 emeritus faculty who hold the distinction. Recognizing six new professors in this way signals the momentum building across every corner of our academic and research enterprise.

We are immensely proud of each of these extraordinary individuals — who are all remarkable scholars, dedicated mentors and active contributors to the betterment of our students, our communities and the world. Please join us in congratulating:

⭐ Joel Bacon — College of Liberal Arts, School of Music, Theater and Dance — outstanding concert organist and scholar bridging musicology, theology and performance across the U.S., Europe, Israel, Canada and Mexico

⭐ Francesca Cotrufo — College of Agricultural Sciences, Soil and Crop Sciences — pioneering soil scientist whose landmark research on carbon storage has been cited more than 3,300 times, shaping climate solutions worldwide

⭐ Steven Dow — College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Clinical Sciences — leader in immunotherapy and translational medicine with five startups, 11 patents and cancer treatments advancing from veterinary to human clinical trials

⭐ Charles Henry — College of Natural Sciences, Chemistry — inventor of lab-on-a-chip technologies for health and environmental science with 18 patents/applications and three startups translating research into real-world impact

⭐ Anireddy Reddy — College of Natural Sciences, Biology — plant molecular geneticist whose discoveries in cell signaling and gene regulation are advancing solutions in energy, food security and biomedicine

⭐ Melinda Smith — College of Natural Sciences, Biology — grassland ecologist leading global research on climate extremes and ecosystem function, now also serving as Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs

Go Rams!
