For Susan Wechsler, beauty begins with the pieces others might overlook.

In her Evergreen, Colorado studio, shards of antique china, crystal, beads, stones, glass, and personal keepsakes are gathered and transformed into intricate fine art mosaics. Each fragment carries its own history, becoming part of something entirely new.

With a BFA and MFA, Susan has developed a visual language rooted in material, memory, and transformation. What began as a determination to follow her own creative path has grown into a distinctive career built around seeing possibility in the unexpected.

This weekend Stanley Marketplace is celebrating 10 years in business, so we’ve been going through our photos from the early days of the project. Our founder @bbp3 started working on the Stanley project in the spring of 2014. He wrote the Stanifesto, launched Stanley’s social media and email marketing programs, organized weekly #StanleyFamily meetings for a big community of small biz owners, and spearheaded a whole bunch of strategic partnerships that brought a ton of positive attention to Stanley, including with @cherryarts, @denvercenter, @5280magazine, and dozens of Colorado artists. We’re proud of what he helped build, and glad that his seven years of work on Stanley helped lay the groundwork for Oh Hey Creative. (We launched in 2017, one year after Stanley opened.) Here, a bunch of photos from the fall of 2016, when Stanley was finally *finally* getting ready to open to the public. Happy anniversary, @stanleymarketplace! ❤️

A big nostalgic post inspired by my time live painting at Cherry Creek Arts Festival last month 🍒

This event has punctuated huge moments in my art career, and it seemed fitting to take a look back throughout the years.

It also feels like the opportune moment to thank everyone who has collected my work in any point in time. I was able to speak to quite a few people last month who had purchased canvases from me over a decade ago, and have continued to follow my work through various styles and stages of creative evolution. It warms my heart to hear from you all and see pictures of my paintings still hanging in your homes.

Every bit of support, big or small, from commissioning art to purchasing a print to commenting on a post or speaking the artist’s name in rooms you’re in, means the world to a self employed creative. I genuinely wouldn’t be where I am today without every one of you!

Thanks again to @cherryarts for having me out to spray paint at this year’s event.
