Why are we telling the story of surviving 9/11 NOW?

It took 25 years for playwright @lauraleebotsacos to be ready to tell this story. She was there that morning. She watched, she witnessed, and when it was over she could not say why she was spared, only that she did not make it out alone.

TUESDAY is her way of saying thanks.

Welcome to 'Tuesday'

Some stories entertain you. Others stay with you long after the curtain falls.

I’m honored that my play Tuesday will make its WORLD PREMIERE as an Official Selection of the @unitedsolo the world’s largest solo theatre festival.

'Tuesday' is about my experience surviving 9/11 and what that day revealed about who we are when everything else falls away. This show takes us from a funny, messy, big-hearted childhood in the Bronx to the unimaginable events of one Tuesday that changed all of us. It’s terrifying, funny, deeply human, and ultimately about grace, the way we showed up for one another, and the questions that matter even more 25 years later: What have you got to give and how many more Tuesdays do we have left?

📍 Theatre Row • New York City
🗓 Saturday, November 21

This account is where I’ll be sharing the journey, from rehearsals and behind-the-scenes moments to opening night and everything in between.

I’m feeling overcome with gratitude and awe.

I just spent 5 days in Arizona performing/filming Tawni O’Dell’s beautiful play WINDOWS alongside luminaries of the Broadway community. People I’ve grown up watching and listening to since I was very young, and whose work helped shape my love for this life long before I ever imagined I might get to share a stage with them.

And then, somehow, the week got cherry-topped with a 15-hour travel day (2 car rides, 2 planes, 1 already long layover delayed, laughter, tears) sitting next to Priscilla Lopez… which I’m fairly certain I could write an entire book about.

This week reminded me what a privilege it is to be an artist. To tell stories, to connect through them, and to share in the laughter, the mess, and the magic.

Some weeks simply become part of you.
This was one of them for me.

25 years later, I came back.

Back to the place I once called home.
Back to streets that still hold memories I can’t quite put into words.

Twenty-five years have passed since September 11, 2001. We have grown older. The skyline has changed. Life has continued in ways that, on that Tuesday morning, seemed almost impossible.

And yet, standing here again, some things still feel incredibly raw.

I came back not only to remember what I experienced, but to listen—to speak with others about where they were that morning, what they remember, and what they still carry with them.

Because September 11 belongs to so many stories. To the lives that were taken. To the families who lost someone they loved. To the first responders and ordinary people who ran toward strangers. To those who survived. And to a city and a country forever changed.

I am profoundly grateful that I got another Tuesday.
And another.
And another.

Twenty-five years later, I understand that gift differently.

How many Tuesdays do we have left?

None of us knows.

So I came back to remember.
To listen.
To honor those who never got another Tuesday—and the people who have carried their absence through every Tuesday since.

September 11, 2001.
We will never forget. @raviroundtheworld @cherylsternlive @tuesdaytheshow

Like most queer people I know, I was bullied as a kid. So I escaped.
I’d spend HOURS in my backyard by the Dalton Creek, staging imaginary marching band competitions and dreaming up a world where I actually fit in.

Turns out, I found it. 🌈

A moment from my live show Ravi Roth: An Influencer in the Wild, singing “Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane at my Provincetown debut at @redroomptown

And we’re coming BACK to Ptown Halloween weekend for Spooky Bear. 🐻🎃

Can't wait to rock it out next in Reykjavik for @rvkbear Sept. 2nd at @centerhotels Plaza. Ticket link in bio.

Ptown, you were EVERYTHING!

Major love to @boatslipresort for hosting us and for being quite literally the gayest resort in town 💅

To my fabulous guest star @qyacristal, my partner in crime @goodatmaf, and EVERYONE who showed up, supported, screamed, laughed, cried, and made this week so damn special. The talent in this town is UNHINGED both on and off the stage 🫣💅

And we’re not done. Back for Spooky Bear in October. 🎃🐻

NEXT STOP: ICELAND 🇮🇸🐻
