🔙🕰️👩🏿 #tbt #throwbackthursday to June 2024 when we presented Nia Akilah Robinson’s incredible PUSH PARTY, directed by Chesray Dolpha. This world-premiere production by The Hearth was incredibly insightful and moving, giving us all a new perspective on giving birth while Black. The run concluded with an unforgettable talkback with representatives of organizations on the frontlines of the fight for decent treatment of pregnant women and with providers of much-needed services around that issue.

Yes, this is the same company that lost its venue for the upcoming show because of the censorship-motivated closing of the Connelly Theater. You can support RACECAR RACECAR RACECAR, remounted at ART/ New York’s Mezzanine Theatre— they still need over $5K to make it happen this December. Head to @thehearthco for the link.

The Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation is proud to have hosted a Community Night for Push Party, a new play by Nia Akilah Robinson and directed by @chesrayblue.

“It is an immense privilege to tell stories about our people, for our people, centering our people, and with this collaboration, Push Party will get to do just that. We get to make sure that this play has the audiences it deserves: the people of Harlem, birth workers, mamas, the unhoused, Black women— all of the people the theater usually forgets.” - Actor and Associate Producer Mikayla Bartholomew.

Congratulations to the entire cast, crew and all who made this night and this production so special!
