Step Up For Celiac
October 17, 2026

Canadians with celiac disease are “stronger than gluten,” so they’re Stepping Up for Celiac this October. We invited family and friends to discover the beautiful Humber trails in Kleinburg and walk in support of the 1 in 100 Canadians living with celiac disease.
If you wish to donate you have till October 31. This year, funds raised go to our research and advocacy funds, as we push forward on our search for a cure, more affordable gluten-free eating and safe labelling.

A week in review:

The last week of September is the one I had been looking forward to all month! So many exciting events. Although I won’t be sharing all of the details of the week just yet, I’m happy to focus on September 29th.
The launch of Lori & Maria’s Gluten Free Table.

1. The cutest little photo op couldn’t be turned down.
2. Meet my friend Lori @celiacnonna This is one of my prime examples of why Instagram is a wonderful place. I met Lori here and we’ve become friends without even remembering how exactly it all started. When you click, you click! She is a truly beautiful (inside and out), kind, generous and intelligent woman who has a big heart and is truly making a difference in so many lives. If you know her, you know. If you don’t know her, you’re missing out.
3. Lori and Maria, two wonderful women who care about people, love their families and culture and hope to make the world a little more “La vita è bella.” Their Gluten Free world is something you need to be a part of!
4. It was a lovely evening of networking, learning, sampling and showing support for everything Lori and Maria are working on. @lmglutenfreetable
5. I found my new favourite cookie mix - seriously, you need to try it! @chickybakesco The Oatmeal Chocolate Chip was perfect!
6. Y’all had me at GF.
7. Signs of autumn. When we were planning our landscaping I knew I wanted something that would bring me joy when the weather turned cool - every year this tree turns completely red as the temperatures drop and it’s the most beautiful sight.
8. It’s getting real! Seeing my brother-in-law’s signs around King is exciting. Don’t forget that election day is October 26th and this year they have introduced advanced voting with an ONLINE option! @gregoryforward5

A few things I’ve learned since starting @chickybakesco 🍪🤎

I definitely did not have everything figured out when I started… and I still don’t 😅 but I’m learning very quickly that sometimes you just have to start, adjust as you go and be willing to wear about 15 different hats along the way.

Still learning every single day, but I wouldn’t trade it🫶🏻

When you’re diagnosed with celiac disease, there’s a lot you lose.

Foods you loved.
Places you felt safe eating.
Spontaneity.
Sometimes even the feeling of being understood.

But there’s something I never expected to gain.

This beautiful celiac community. 💚

A community that supports each other. That celebrates each other. That shares safe gluten-free finds, speaks up for one another, and supports the brands and businesses that truly care about giving us safe food and making us feel included.

We care about each other because we understand what it means to live this life.

And THIS is exactly why Lori and Maria created Gluten Free Table @lmglutenfreetable 💚

I am so incredibly proud of both of you and of what you are creating for our community. And seeing so many amazing businesses and gluten-free brands come together to support this beautiful project makes it even more special.

My wish for you is that Gluten Free Table grows far beyond anything you ever imagined. That it reaches more people, creates more safe spaces, brings our community even closer together, and continues touching lives through the incredible work you’re doing.

Thank you, Lori and Maria, for this beautiful gift to the celiac and gluten-free community. 💚

And to every person who supports, educates, shares, advocates, creates safe food, or simply makes another person with celiac disease feel less alone: thank you.

This community is one of the most beautiful things I never expected to find after my diagnosis.

And if you’re newly diagnosed with celiac disease and wondering how you’re ever going to navigate this new life, I hope you find us. There is an entire community waiting to remind you that you don’t have to do it alone. 💚
