Have fun! A client recently captured these photos of me during her training session. The photos are little reminders to have fun. Be yourself. Don’t take life too seriously. I have been called stoic and hard to read in the past. Maybe unapproachable. What do you think? If you’ve never seen me in the gym, it is a happy place for me. I dance. I sing. I do silly things with cones. 😂 Come by and say hi. You might get a glance at my “safety dance”. #performancecoach #mentalperformance #personaltrainer #perimenopauselife #womenwholift

Wanna work the butt? 🍑 We did this one last night @chicobfit and dang…! Question: will I be able to walk tomorrow? Nope! Take the challenge and see if you can do more than one round. Except for the last one. Just do one round of 150 lunges 😝 #legday #buttworkout #personaltrainer #fitcoach #workout

The Body’s Connected Chain It keeps coming up. Everything in our body is interconnected, from our gut and hormones to our musculoskeletal system. Using my own recent injury recovery as an example, let’s talk about how issues in one area (like the foot or calf) can stem from problems elsewhere in the posterior chain—including the low back, hips, hamstrings, and Achilles. It’s important to work the entire chain during recovery and training, including often-neglected areas like the adductors and pelvic region, especially for us women. Proper bodywork and conditioning have helped us get stronger and progress, including completing my 6-mile run yesterday, up hills. #InjuryRecovery #StrengthTraining #FitnessMotivation #WellnessJourney ➡️ Want to know more and work with me? Bidwell Classic 1/2 marathon ✅ The 50th Bidwell Classic delivered with beautiful weather, amazing support from other runners, vendors and volunteers, and almost hitting my goal of finishing in under 2 hours. I had an injury early in the week that had me doubting my ability to complete 13.1. I rehabbed the knee with massage and @incrediwear knee brace worn practically 24/7 for a week. I can’t say that the race felt 💯 awesome. It took about 3 miles and one porta potty break to really find my stride. Then, my legs were heavy. Each half marathon I do, I learn something. Every race is different and allows you to push your body differently. Remember to trust the training (thank you, threshold training!). Threshold training definitely helped me get almost to my goal yesterday. My lessons from this race: ➡️ Continue speed work and threshold training. It works! ➡️ Match speed work with solid strength training plan. ➡️ Recovery is a must. ➡️ Keep listening to your body. Leading into this race I did all road training. It’s been awhile since I did all road and no trail miles. My body did not care for that much pavement. I will keep pushing into the next training which will be all trails. The question is: which trail race, if any, should I do? #halfmarathon #runnergirl #strengthtraining #fitlife #ChicoCA @fleetfeetchico

Balancing workouts and family and life is hard some times. Other times, it’s super fun! Hubs and I took a trip to Kauai and hiked, walked, and saw the entire island in a few days. It was fun, gorgeous, and filled us up with the desire to plan our next trip. We didn’t do traditional workouts. Instead we hiked hills, saw the coastline, observed whales, turtles, and dolphins. We ate the local food. We slept in. We shopped. We are happy to be home. The trip was just right and gave us the opportunity to evaluate what was currently working at home and what needs a shift. Life works like that. We go go go until we can no longer see or understand where we need a change. Stepping back or away from home and work gives fresh perspective. (A little ocean air helps, too.) Finding balance is a practice, a skill. It needs to be developed. How do you find balance? What gives you a new perspective? #aloha #balance #worklife #hikeNapali
