POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

"WFF Doc Lab was integral to understanding how to produce documentaries in Canada, building relationships with peers and mentors who would go on to help make 'Spring After Spring' possible."

⭐️ 🎬️ Jon Chiang is an award-winning Chinese-Peruvian filmmaker and founder of Chifa Studios based in British Columbia. His work is informed by his multi-ethnic upbringing and a focus on culturally grounded storytelling. He has collaborated with broadcasters including CBC, Knowledge Network, and TELUS Originals, with films screening at festivals such as Vancouver International Film Festival, Asian Film Festival, Reel Asian, and others.

His feature 2025 documentary 'Spring After Spring' follows three sisters navigating legacy and identity through Vancouver’s Chinatown Parade. It received Best Canadian Feature at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival and is set to air on Knowledge Network in 2026 following a limited theatrical release. He also co-wrote and directed 'Our Ocean Table' (2026), a Jackson Wild-nominated TELUS Originals series exploring Korean culture and ocean conservation.

Jon is a 2022 Whistler Film Festival Doc Lab alum and has participated in industry programs including DOC Breakthrough, BANFF DOV, and the Filmable and VIFF Delegation. He is currently expanding his work across documentary and series production while continuing to develop Chifa Studios.

The best feeling is seeing our designs out in the world! Revealing “Spring After Spring” (@jonchiang’s debut documentary film) red envelopes to our designer! Happy lunar new year from SSS to you 🧧🐎✨

We were so honoured to work on the graphic treatments for this film ~ featuring custom typography, cheongsam inspired illustrations, with colours that reflect Chinatown nostalgia and spring festival. We heard that red envelopes will be handed out at this Sunday at Vancouver’s LNY parade so go get one if you’re down there!

Now available to stream on @knowledgenetwork @viffest ~

Wow. What a wild two weeks.

Between media interviews, event planning, and the general chaos leading up to our theatrical premiere at @viffest Theatre— I hadn’t had a chance to just land.

I sat alone in the dark theatre during tech check and watched Spring After Spring. I was overwhelmed with emotions. It was exactly how I wanted it to be seen. I had a realization: we did it. It’s done.

I’m so grateful for every note, message, and reaction from those who’ve watched the film. This carousel is a little recap of the last two weeks.

Two screenings left before Spring After Spring goes live on @knowledgenetwork across the country on Feb 17.

Last weekend Cold Tea Collective kicked off the theatrical run of “Spring After Spring”, a feature length documentary film by Chinese-Peruvian Canadian filmmaker Jon Chiang (@jonchiang).

After their mother’s death, three sisters reunite to lead Vancouver’s Chinatown Parade, forced to choose between honoring their past and letting it go.

At the sold-out VIP screening, our founder Natasha Jung moderated a post-screening panel with sisters Anabel and Lisa Ho and Jon Chiang.

Canadian Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism & Sport, Anne Kang, shared remarks alongside Knowledge Network President & CEO, Michelle van Beusekom and producer Joanna Wong.

Thank you to Chinatown Storytelling Centre for hosting our community screening of Spring After Spring! It was so meaningful to gather with old friends, family, former students of Mimie, and new friends we made on the day. To experience our mom's story where so much of it began, was so special. Thank you to everyone that came to spend their afternoon with us. It was so lovely to hear your thoughts and personal connections to Mimie or the film. Time is fleeting and we value every minute you have chosen to share with us!

For our Vancouver community, we have a few more screenings at the VIFF Centre! Come on by for CNY! 🧧🐴
