Six years ago, ALW set out to create a distinct identity for Tallahassee National Bank through a complete renovation and addition to its existing building.

From the earliest loose studies and sketchy conceptual models to the finished building, the project reflects a design process that has been distinctly ALW for years. We explore boldly, test ideas quickly, and carry the strongest concepts all the way through construction.

Our process has always been aspirational, pushing ideas further and challenging ourselves to exceed expectations. A style can be imitated. A process is harder to replicate.

For us, the value is in seeing the original idea survive the entire journey, from the first sketch to the finished building.

This Presidents’ Day, we’re highlighting our renovation of Tallahassee National Bank. A new public entrance anchors the building with a clearer, more confident point of arrival, strengthening its civic presence and connection to the community. Expressive brick detailing adds texture and character, giving the façade a sense of charmful permanence that feels right at home in Tallahassee.

At ALW, we design financial institutions to feel dependable and enduring, while remaining approachable. Our experience in banking environments guides spaces that convey strength and security, yet support the everyday, face-to-face relationships that define personal service.

Another sneak peek behind the lens capturing Griffin Middle School’s new cafetorium!

Dining spaces play a meaningful role in student health and wellness, offering places to connect and reset during the school day. A little ALW insight: we see these environments as central to wellness on K-12 campuses, where thoughtful design supports both physical and social well-being.

This project reflects our approach to designing with care, and we’re excited to see it captured in real time.

This week we’re joining @rgammaphoto as he documents some of our recently completed work. The afternoon light at Waller Park put on a show yesterday, animating the plaza as lawmakers return for the 2026 legislative session. Stay tuned for sneak peeks of the spaces he’ll be capturing this week!

TMH Pharmacy Renovation with Childers Construction

This past weekend, Jackson Cook had the privilege of lending a hand to Childers Construction as they continue renovations on the Pharmacy at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital (TMH). Proud to support their crew with some heavy lifting on a project that impacts so many in our community.

Sweet progress at Griffin Middle School’s new space to break bread. Word on the street? “Cafetorium” gives the kids the icks. We’re thinking it’s time for a new name—maybe Flexium, Meat Hall, or Eateria? The Feedium? 🧐 #k12architecture
