Who knew that cooking at eight years old would one day lead me here? 😂🤩

Today, I joined Tchiyiwe, host and owner of African Voice Network, for such a meaningful conversation about food, culture, identity, and the journey behind UrbanFusion by Ella Bella.

We explored how food can be political, the stories our plates carry, and the impact I hope to make through UrbanFusion. We touched on everything that makes the business what it is—and everything that makes me Ella Bella. 🤎

Kind of chic… but make it gratitude 🤎

When we established Urban Fusion in 2020, we had a vision, a whole lot of faith, and a genuine love for food, culture and bringing people together.

But if you had told us then just how far this little idea would take us… honestly, I’m not sure we would have believed you.

From cooking for the Mayor (twice!), to cooking for the Duchess of Edinburgh, hosting weekly pop-ups, catering weddings and private events, creating weekly menus, guest lecturing, talking about Black food and heritage on the radio, and building a business centred around celebrating the incredible food cultures of the African diaspora — West African, Caribbean, Afro-Latin and Southern soul food — we have been blessed with some truly unforgettable moments.

And now, we have a website where you can order Urban Fusion from wherever you are. 🥹

Sometimes you have to stop, look back and realise just how much has happened.

So yes… kind of chic. 😂✨

But more than anything, we are grateful.

Grateful for every order.
Every booking.
Every pop-up.
Every person who has recommended us.
Every person who has sat at our table, shared our food and allowed us to be part of their celebrations.

Overnight success is a myth.
What you don’t see is the years of discipline, doubt, prayers, and persistence.

Some days I look at where I am and where I know I’m meant to be and think… how will this happen?
But I’m learning that consistency builds legacy.

Even when no one is clapping, God is working.
Even when it feels quiet, foundations are forming.
And when you think no one is watching… they are.

Still building.
Still believing.
Still becoming. 🤍
