How can schools move beyond mental health awareness to build systems that support emotional wellbeing?

At the T360 Educators Conclave Indore 2026, a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Pariniti Singh, Senior Manager, Quality & Strategy, Teacher360, brought together Dr. Rashpal Singh Bhomrah, Dr. Avinash P. Shrivastava, Ms. Chitralekha Kulkarni and Ms. Kanchan Tare to examine the role of school leadership, policy and everyday practice in supporting mental health.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀
▪️ Psychological safety begins when students and teachers feel heard and supported.
▪️ Self-awareness, empathy and emotional intelligence are essential to wellbeing.
▪️ Performance expectations must not become sources of persistent fear and stress.
▪️ Clear protocols, peer support and collaborative action are necessary to address mental health concerns.

Mental health cannot remain an isolated initiative. It must be embedded in school culture, leadership practices and systems of support.

Are our schools designed only to measure performance, or also to safeguard the wellbeing of the people who make learning possible?

Does stress arise from a situation itself, or from the meaning we assign to it?

At Prabodh – Mental Health in Schools, hosted by Choithram School, Mr. Rohan Pande, Psychotherapist, explored how thought patterns and interpretations influence emotional responses.

The way we interpret experiences shapes how we perceive challenges, manage stress and respond to others. Unhelpful thinking patterns can reinforce assumptions and limit our ability to consider alternative perspectives.

Recognising these patterns requires us to question our automatic thoughts, distinguish interpretation from fact and examine the assumptions underlying our responses.

For educators, this awareness is relevant to professional relationships, classroom interactions and decision-making under pressure. Understanding our own thinking is an important step towards emotional regulation and well-being.

The central reflection is this: We may not always be able to change a situation, but we can examine the thinking that shapes our response to it.

Building mentally healthier schools begins with self-awareness and a willingness to question habitual ways of thinking.

Our sincere gratitude to Mr. Rohan Pande for encouraging educators to reflect on their inner dialogue and understand its role in shaping emotional well-being.

How well do we understand the child behind the academic performance?

At Prabodh – Mental Health in Schools, hosted by Choithram School, Mr. G. Balasubramanian, Veteran Educator, Author, Leader & Mentor, Teacher360, invited educators to look beyond marks, grades and measurable outcomes to understand the changing needs of learners.

A child’s well-being is shaped by relationships, emotional needs, social pressures and the environment in which they learn. Focusing only on academic results can mean overlooking the experiences that influence a child’s behaviour, engagement and growth.

For educators and school leaders, this calls for a deeper reflection: Are we looking only at how well children perform, or are we understanding what they need to thrive?

Mental health must be part of everyday school life, shaping classroom practices, leadership decisions and relationships. Children need environments where they feel heard, respected and supported.

Because education is not just about helping children succeed academically. It is about creating the conditions in which they can grow, build resilience and navigate life with confidence.

Our sincere gratitude to Mr. G. Balasubramanian for his insightful keynote and for encouraging educators to reflect on the learner beyond the results.
