A little over a week ago I had the privilege and honor to come back HOME….to spend a glorious weekend with my extended dance family and celebrate the life & legacy of an extraordinary woman, Jennifer Muller. For me Jennifer was more than just my director, she was my mentor, who changed my life forever. I felt seen by her and had never felt so alive when performing. Jennifer moved me, her work inspired me, and she pushed me to levels I never thought possible. The journey that we went on together was heavenly.

Having the opportunity to set foot on @thejoycetheater stage again to commemorate the impact she had on the dance world and the world at large was a true gift. Even though I did not dance, I paid tribute to Jennifer by reciting her powerful words alongside exquisite dancers/artists. I’m forever grateful to have had these moments. I feel WHOLE again. I believe that Jennifer left me with this gift, to be able to perform her work again, years after my dance career had been cut short due to major knee injuries.

*Thank you to the incredible “Celebration Of Life” Committee for curating & organizing such an unforgettable weekend. Thank you to the incomparable alumnus for directing and coaching such breathtaking performances, in memoriam of Jennifer’s brilliance, love, passion, and tenacity. My deepest gratitude for including me…my heart is so full.
**Thank you to all the beautiful Jennifer Muller/The Works dancers, past and present, for sharing your love, passion, and light. And thank you to all the artists who donated their time to make last Monday night such a magical evening that Jennifer would have been so proud of.
***Lastly, thank you, Jennifer, for seeing the genuine artist in me, for seeing me for me, and for bringing out the greatest in me. I am the Artist I am today because of you and for that I am eternally grateful. I love you and will miss you always…though you will always be in my heart.

We melted into each other in embrace backstage and watched you dance with your entire being, projected onto the wall, with your reflection sliding, full abandon, across the marley, you filled the entire theater, as you fill any space. And then we entered and transformed the stage into your imagery, together, and we celebrated your being with everything you gave us.
