Sunday 5k fun. Brilliant to pace/race with @beccabecca17 at a local race and have @chris.naimoli @the.runningacademy Ninjas come 1st and 2nd overall with just 1 second separating us! Such a fun race, even with the elevation in mile 2 (see slide 3) and random cars on the course. 18:30 isn’t the best time but it’s pretty ok given all the race logistics. It still felt good. And winning felt good. It felt good that I held/set pace up front in a field of much younger runners.
And, a $$ prize is always good, too.

Rothman 8k @philly_marathon weekend.
Always a fast, fun and windy race.
29:19 is a 6 second PR at this race/distance and nabbed the 55-59 age division win, so both goals were happily achieved on this day.

Huge thanks to coach @chris.naimoli for all his help getting me here post injury this year and on race day. This pic actually telegraphs a lot about how this coach/athlete relationship works. 🤣 So great to see so many other athletes/friends race yesterday and my tracker is popping this morning with all friends racing marathon today. Also, thanks to all the folks who braved the cold, for all the cheers and support on race morning. Our local running community is brilliant!

🏆 2024 Hood to Coast Masters Champions! 🏆

Team “Never Say Die” finished the 197 Mile race 10th Overall in 18 hours and 46 mins for an avg pace of 5:44 per mile. 🏴‍☠️

This @indiana_elite_ac & friends team combined is over 500 years old, has over a dozen masters national titles(and counting), finished over 100 marathons, and thousands of miles and beers between us. 🏃🥇

It was a competitive race and a big accomplishment just to get 12 healthy Masters guys to the start line. We came up about 50 mins short of the Masters record and just a few minutes out of 5th place overall. 😤

I was in Van 1 🥯 with a strong crew that set the tone for the race with some fast legs down a snowy! Mt Hood. My new 5k PR of 15:12(4:54 pace with 900 ft of descent 😂) was an unforgettable way to start the day!

After celebrating the win, hydrating 🍻, and recovering on the beach yesterday, I know we’re ready to come back and take another swing at this record and improve on our overall finish. Thanks to Meshingomesia TC for the entry in the race this year.

Finally, congrats again to a great team of 12 guys, new & old friends, and thanks to Tom Burns for taking the lead in the captain role! 🏴‍☠️🔥🏴‍☠️🔥

Lots to celebrate this medal Monday 🥂

Team F3 represented at IM Oregon 70.3 with a whopping 14 racers, 4 podiums @andrewmartinez (3rd) @thewizardofportland (5th) @marcellarietz (1st) @stephxgo (4th) and 3 slots to the World Championships next year in Marbella, Spain!! 🤯

In Ohio, @kakistler took 5th in IM Ohio 70.3.

And in Lake Placid, @chris.naimoli (1st) and @mknaeps (2nd) made the podium and @jrgrauel23 secured his slot to Kona 🌺

Since God knows when I’ll be running again, let’s #waybackwednesday to when I could run and this day 4 years ago, when I ran the @wmmajors Virtual Global Marathon, running up/down a windy trail solo, except for @cnaimoli who kindly got up at dumb o’clock and drove for an hour to crew me on a bike for 26.2 miles. Rules were just like official marathon racing, no stopping/pausing, sharing all Garmin/Strava data to verify, etc. to score a time that might get me into the Wanda Age Group World Championships. Ran a PR for back then at 2:56 and that didn’t get me into the Championships. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Had to wait another year when my @bostonmarathon and @nycmarathon times got me there.

This was the 4th virtual marathon I did with unofficial PRs during lockdowns and distancing. I am recalling how hard it was to stay engaged and push out there on your own. But @cnaimoli was there for that. And then became my coach. Thanks (or maybe poor you), man.
