The journey reveals itself after you take the first step. Chris had no idea how or where to start his film, he just did.

🇨🇦 Biking across Canada is no easy feat, but doing it twice is insane… And on top of that, getting hit by a car and two trucks

🇨🇦 @chriscull reminds us: you don’t beat addiction by staring at what you’re trying to quit. You beat it by moving towards a goal worth fighting for

“We All Know Someone”

This year, @mentalhealthab’s Annual Fundraising Breakfast was our most successful one yet.

Why? Because we got real about mental illness and addiction. Because we told real stories about real people dealing with very real triumphs and challenges within the mental health care system. And because we invited our community to stand with us and be part of the solution.

We are so grateful to our keynote speaker, @chriscull, for sharing his story of grief, resilience, and hope, as he transformed an almost decade-long opioid addiction into a powerful platform to highlight the humanity behind addiction and the devastating impact of the opioid crisis.

We are also deeply thankful for Sherri Stace and her unbelievable courage to share the story of her son Ceileb, who tragically lost his 12-year battle with mental illness and addiction at the age of 26. Stories like Sherri’s and Ceileb’s are why we do the work we do.

This was my second year leading this signature event at the Mental Health Foundation, and I can say it was a true career highlight. Seeing the success on all levels - event logistics, fundraising, and the continued conversations long after the event - makes me feel immensely proud of what we were able to accomplish this year.

While I’m both proud and humbled by the professional privilege of executing a gathering of over 700 people from the corporate community, health sector, government, and other passionate changemakers, I couldn’t do it without the most amazing professionals supporting this event: our event management team, @tycoonevents; our production team, @encore.canada; our professional photographer and videographer, @vividribbon; and our fabulous host, @cadevaney. We also had some wonderful new vendors this year, including @nexgen_grafix, @talentprodca, and @partyandconfetti, who all truly elevated the event experience.

We also couldn’t do it without the support of our presenting sponsor, Qualico Group of Companies, as well as our hard-working volunteers and the entire MHF team. Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Annual Fundraising Breakfast the best one yet!
