I’ve been thinking a lot about 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦 lately. How so many of us ask for it, but so few offer it to others. I admire and also detest how motherhood seems to demand we give ourselves constant grace. Much to the shame and disappointment of many mothers (me included), we fail at that stuff, the giving ourselves 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦 stuff, a lot. It’s hard to exist happily in a rage based economy, especially with an algorithm that rewards it. We try not to take the rage bait, but sometimes we do. We aren’t perfect. I’m not perfect. This place isn’t perfect.

The line between grace and gratitude is pretty and chaotic and well, thin. Grace flowing 𝘵𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 you, gratitude flowing 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺 from you. Pretty because anything that flows is pretty, chaotic because it’s a two-way street, and thin because damn, sometimes they’re both in short supply.

I’m consistently aware of the places I could do better and be better, and also recognize that I should spend a little more time accepting that sometimes things are okay the way they are. I’m trying to do a 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 job in a “bad world”, while also believing whole heartedly that i’m usually doing a bad job in a deeply 𝘎𝘖𝘖𝘋 world(with bad actors at the steering wheel)

I’m trying. I’m doing my best. Sometimes with grace, but always with gratitude.

Dear Summer,
I’ll miss you deeply but I’ll be honest, I still have no clue what I’m doing from one day to the next. The second I start to feel like i’m getting my “groove back”, my kid decides she doesn’t want to sleep for five days straight. Anyway, I’m grateful I get to watch my daughter eat blueberries straight from the bush, and to teach her that this place we live really is worth saving, but mostly just grateful I don’t have to be here alone anymore. Having a family rules. The love is relentless and unwavering. What could possibly be better than that, ya know?

Every @atreyuofficial is like a high school reunion but the 20th anniversary of The Curse show was even more.

So fun to see so many people who mean so much to me.

Seeing your friends succeed in doing what they love and admiring their talent over the years is so enjoyable to be on the sidelines cheering them on.
