Why FFI? For Chris Hauge, it’s about challenge, growth, and global connection.
Chris joined Fly Fishers International to pursue his Master Casting Instructor certification — a credential recognized around the world. As a guide, casting demonstrator, and international traveler, FFI was the natural choice.
Since then, his journey has taken him far:
Becoming an International Ambassador and Level 3 Assessor
Leading trips, mentoring other casters, and traveling globally

Forming lasting friendships and collaborating with some of the top minds in fly fishing
“The FFI has opened doors, deepened my skills, and brought incredible people into my life. I can’t wait to see what comes next.” – Chris Hauge
Why FFI for you? We want to hear it! Post your story or image using #WhyFFI — or share in the comments below.

Nella categoria “Over 60” ottimo 2 posto 🥈

Today was the day I took my @flyfishersinternational Two-Handed Casting Instructor exam, and I’m relieved to share that I passed! It’s been nearly seven years since I passed my Single-Handed exam, where I first wrote that I’d start preparing for this one. But life had other plans!

Over these years, I’ve gained invaluable experience on the water: fishing, teaching and guiding star students, and learning alongside some amazing instructors and guides. Biggest thank you to Barry Mitchell who has been an exceptional mentor over the last few months, and has kept me focused and motivated. A big thank you as well to Paul Brown (@paul_brown_fly_fishing) and James Murray (@salmonfly51) for assessing me.

This exam has pushed me to study more deeply than I ever would have otherwise, making me a better teacher in the process. I’m grateful to the FFI organisation for motivating me to reach this next level.

Now, it’s time to relax, catch up on some sleep, and enjoy a few months free of exam pressure. Onward to whatever comes next!

Mackenzie Fly Fishing is very proud of its FX2 range of rods, which were launched in 2024. The design team believed these are the best rods they had ever created, and that belief is now being validated, with the 10 ft 6w, 9 ft 5w, and 14 ft 9w 4-piece rods all winning “Best in Test” in the UK’s leading game angling magazines.

For more technical information on the rods, please visit www.mackenzieflyfishing.com
