I am deeply honoured and excited to announce that my new sound installation “The Intelligence Below” launches this week as part of a stunning new exhibition at @rammuseum in Exeter. Living Labyrinths - Art and Fungi, is a unique exhibition exploring the cultural world of fungi through a lens of scientific enquiry and features stunning objects, sculptures, images, video and sounds. To have my work featured alongside so many incredible artists, past and present is a real honour and I can’t wait for the exhibition to open this weekend! My thanks go to curator extraordinaire @laragoodband and the RAMM team for doing everything in their power to make this happen as well as my thanks to some very special contributors including @chrishoward001 @grocycle_project @briznicholls @1963.christian @theboskyman

I’ll also be running workshops, performances and artist talks at RAMM over the next few months so maybe see you there!

⚡️BIG NEWS ⚡️We’ve launched a @crowdfunderuk for @38parasitespodcast 🧠

As many of you know @lowridenman has been on a huge journey with neurocysticercosis over a decade now. Me (@nicolafayebrown) and Lowri have been trying to get this podcast off the ground for a few years now. We really want to uncover unanswered questions and to spread awareness of this little known horrible disease. And this is where we need your help!

We appreciate not everyone will be able to contribute financially but if you could share this story and the Crowdfunder link far and wide it would mean so so much to us.

As ever thank you for all your support this far 🫶 #neurocysticercosis #38parasitespodcast #podcast

This month, instead of trying in vain to turn myself into a beautiful specimen, @menshealthuk sent me out to look for some. In the current issue I’ve explored the possibility that birdwatching might be… cool now. Yes really. Prompted by the success of @owen_reiser and Quentin (@earlyworm_getsthebird ) Reiser’s fabulous YouTube documentary ‘Listers’ (if you haven’t seen it yet, drop whatever you’re doing for the next two hours) and the rise of birdwatching groups for atypical twitchers such as @flocktogether.world , I went for a long walk in Richmond Park with Flock Together founder @ollie_ranger and two pairs of binoculars. We didn’t find the green woodpecker he wanted but did spot some nesting herons and a delightful tufted duck, and had an excellent chat at a slow pace. The article also features fascinating “nature beatboxer” @jasonsinghthing and documentary maker/Springwatch veteran @chrishoward001 – flying off shelves now.

It is the final episode of Hamza’s Hidden Wild Isles. Winter has finally arrived. I get the opportunity to film some incredible wildlife, I get to use some of the latest military equipment (that is now permitted for civilians) whilst catching up with some old friends, and making new ones too. Best of all I manage to film an elusive bird with my best mate @james__shooter in the #Cairngorms.

I hope you enjoy watching the episode as much as I enjoyed filming it. I could not have done it without my hard-working team, and here’s to the next adventure together! So thank you very much, @silverback_films @nationaltrust @theopenuniversity @bootlejack @dmltalent @lauramary

Tune in to BBC One tonight at 6:15pm and you can also catch the rest of the episodes on @bbciplayer

Joined by our Exec @chrishoward001 we’ve been recording some soundscapes which has been a lot of fun. Lots more to come….watch this space!

We are #NaturalistsForPalestine 🇵🇸 💚

We are scientists, authors, presenters, vets, doctors, photographers, filmmakers, conservationists and all round nature loving nerds. Perhaps more importantly though, we are human beings with broken hearts watching a genocide and ecocide unfold before our very eyes. We recognise that to care for our planet, we must care about people too. Environmental and social justice are one and the same.

We are asking the environmental sector - both organisations and individuals - to find its voice and speak up for humanity, to speak up for Palestine.

To find out more, read our mission statement and sign to your name. Please share widely - repost, comment and like to boost this post for more people to see. More on this to come soon from those tagged and collab’ed. See link in our bios!

Thank you 🍉

Well now. What a night. On Saturday, we had the incredible Jow at the Common Room - our first ever gig - to welcome in the autumn and say goodbye to Paul Blakemore’s SuperDogs.

We ate strudel, shared stories and howled at the wind; we rang bells, offered wishes, and threw our fears onto the fire.

We also debuted a compilation of SuperDogs portraits alongside behind-the-scenes-footage-of-people-holding-dogs-in-front-of-their-faces-whilst-being-green-screened-around-the-world, all set to an improvised score from cello and trumpet. Magic.

Thank you to @blikmo and @jow2o for creating such a beautiful evening, and to everyone who came to share it with us.

Our hearts are full.

Film starring @chrishoward001 & Mollie, and @amyzena & @myles_with.a.y

Thanks to @superculturewsm @petmaniauk and Jo Barker from @blackbarkfilms for their support with the exhibition. 🐾💛

📣 Nature Calling Conversation #3 takes place on Wednesday at 12.

🥪 Join us and spice up your lunch break with a fascinating discussion between the three commissioned artists for Mendip Hills National Landscape's Nature Calling project.

🪨 View In View Out is an incredible project that saw young people from Weston-super-Mare take part in caving trips deep beneath the Mendip Hills.

👂 The final piece was presented in an empty shop in the Sovereign Shopping Centre in Weston-super-Mare and included the sounds of rocks, caves, trees and water; the dying song of the ash trees, the birds of the plateau; the song of the ghost of Charterhouse; tales of a Mendip storyteller, and the voices of children from Weston. Those lucky enough to visit were entranced!

📽️ The Conversation will start with a short film of the project and then the three artists will discuss their process and development of the project. It promises to be your best lunch hour this week by a country mile.

🎫 Get your free tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/nature-calling-conversation-3-gwyneth-herbert-jason-singh-chris-howard-tickets-1431602574839

🗺️ You can still enjoy View In View Out until October by using the augmented reality trails guiding you on walks around the Mendip Hills and South Ward, Weston-super-Mare: https://superculture.org.uk/view-out-an-augmented-reality-trail/
