Three years of training.

I did not expect to spend my training anniversary watching class from the sidelines, but the universe decided to send me a clear sign that I need to put my training on pause for a bit. I've managed to stubbornly train through a number of annoying injuries over the last few years, but the most recent one was a much needed reality check that I need to focus on recovery as much as I do trying to improve my grappling. It's been a long time since I trained without any restrictions and it would be nice to just get after it without constantly worrying about re-injuring something.

Even though I could not participate in class tonight, I found value in watching the rounds and analyzing what was happening during the exchanges. I appreciate Coach @christopher_might for letting me sit in and ask questions. He has also, on many occasions, designed entire live practices working around some of my injuries or addressing areas of weakness. Not because I asked, but because he knew I wanted to be in the room. Truly a great and supportive coach. Now I have to meet him halfway and actually take care of my body so I can be healthy and do this long-term.

If anybody has any suggestions for some non-physical hobbies, let me know. I have an idea of how I am going to spend the next few weeks and a part of me is looking forward to that. Hopefully @altitudemovementsm is ready to see a lot more of me.

Stripe number three tonight. This one came at an interesting time because it feels like I've been riding the struggle bus lately, but I do appreciate the recognition from Coach @christopher_might.

It's been quite challenging having to work around some of the situationals at @method_jiu_jitsu with one hand to grip with. I've had to make a lot of adjustments and forced to get creative with some of the connections and attack options I have available. A lot of frustrating outcomes, but I do what I can to hang in there. Sucks that it comes at a time when I was really getting into the Gi, specifically controls that require a hand transfer or a second hand assist. Worm guard is unfortunately going to have to wait a while. At least this made me focus on different passing options where I take my time to settle and pressure into my partners, as opposed to my usual passing style that leads to more scrambles. Stack passing has definitely been my favorite recently and something I've been able to pull off with some success.
