Happy Pride, everyone! I’m reminded that when I hold space for myself, I no longer require others to hold space for me. This enables an attitude of gratitude whenever people in my network extend this courtesy to help me feel seen, heard, and understood. May I never take it for granted. Thank you for witnessing this milestone!

On this first day of Pride, I’m especially proud of how Christopher and I have managed to stay together through the best and worst of times. We have intentionally begun transitioning away from the heteronormative expectations placed upon us as a legally married, monogamous couple that stifled our autonomy and self-expression. We are committed to exploring our individual queer, poly, and gender journeys in order to gain the autonomy we each need as individuals, while we learn how to be mindful of our impact on each other’s energy. We believe this will enable us to reform a stronger bond as a cohesive unit, based on a new relationship framework, embracing consensual non-monogamy and relationship anarchy, that upholds our shared purpose and values.

I understand this won’t make sense to anyone but us and we’re ok with being misunderstood so that we can get to where we need and want. We remain together on parallel journeys while communing intentionally with purpose, curiosity, and compassion to truly be emotional support beams for one another. This way we can build lasting relationship equity for ongoing security so our partnership can endure the trials and tribulations we will continue facing on our journey together. I believe in me, I believe in Christopher, and I believe in the Furnikohs.
