POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Another look back at an unforgettable weekend celebrating the legendary photography of George Napolitano at Mortal Machine Gallery

One of the most exciting aspects of Origin Stories was watching people from all walks of life connect with George’s photographs. Lifelong wrestling fans, art collectors, photographers, and curious visitors all found something meaningful in these remarkable images

For more than five decades, George has documented the evolution of professional wrestling, capturing intimate moments with some of the most recognizable figures in popular culture

What makes this archive so extraordinary isn’t simply who appears in the photographs. It’s the history, humanity, and stories preserved within them

We’re honored to be working with George and his family to introduce this incredible body of work to the contemporary art world, and we’re looking forward to our next presentation @inscopeart Miami during Miami Art Week this December!

In the meantime, the complete Origin Stories collection remains available to view and purchase at mortalmachinenola.com, with a selection of photographs currently on display in our showroom at 940 Royal Street, New Orleans

Another fantastic video recap courtesy of @opusmercury, who has done an incredible job capturing the energy and excitement surrounding this exhibition

One of the most rewarding parts of presenting George Napolitano’s Origin Stories was hearing the stories of the people who came to experience it

For so many, professional wrestling is more than entertainment. It’s childhood memories, larger than life heroes, unforgettable moments, and a lifelong connection to something that brings people together

These photographs aren’t simply wrestling history. They’re personal history for millions of people

We’re incredibly proud to be working with George and his family to preserve and celebrate this extraordinary archive, and we’re excited to continue introducing it to new audiences

NEXT STOP: @inscopeart

This December, we’ll bring an expanded presentation of George’s work to Miami Art Week, continuing a collaboration that we’re only beginning to explore

The complete Origin Stories collection remains available to view and purchase at mortalmachinenola.com, with a selection of photographs currently on display at our showroom at 940 Royal Street, New Orleans

Special thanks to @opusmercury for beautifully capturing the people, stories, and passion that made this exhibition so memorable

ORIGIN STORIES | A LOOK BACK

What an incredible experience bringing legendary photographer George Napolitano’s extraordinary archive to Mortal Machine Gallery!

Our inaugural presentation of Origin Stories brought together decades of professional wrestling history, capturing some of the most iconic figures in the sport long before they became household names

We are incredibly grateful to George and his family for trusting us with this remarkable body of work, and to everyone who visited, supported, and helped make this exhibition such a memorable experience

And this is only the beginning.

We look forward to continuing our work with George’s historic archive, developing new projects, and introducing these extraordinary photographs to audiences far beyond New Orleans

NEXT STOP: @inscopeart

This December, we’ll bring an expanded presentation of Origin Stories to Miami Art Week at INSCOPE Miami, introducing George’s work to an international audience of collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts

Girl… I was so busy overthinking everything that was leaving my life, I almost forgot to look at everything that was showing up. 😂💗

New friends, new adventures, new hobbies… apparently I have a whole new life forming over here and didn’t even realize it. 😂🥹

And the funny thing is, I was just saying yes, getting outside and doing things that made me happy. Who knew?! 😂
Maybe making room really was the point. 💗

Don’t judge me… I’m still figuring it out as I go. 😂💗

Seven years ago, Mortal Machine was born out of chaos in a pop up on Frenchmen street

By the end of this year, we will have curated more than 100 exhibitions and welcomed countless people through our doors in the French Quarter. At this point, I have no idea how many artists I’ve worked with, how many pieces of art I’ve hung, how many walls I’ve painted, or how many times I’ve climbed up and down a ladder

What a privilege that is

If you know anything about the art world, you know that owning and operating a truly independent gallery is a suicide mission. This landscape is filled with galleries backed by family money, well to do spouses, trust funds and occasionally money that probably shouldn’t be examined too closely

We didn’t have any of that. Somehow, we survived and we grew

Running Mortal Machine has been the most difficult, exhausting, exhilarating and rewarding thing I have ever taken on. To say that I’m proud of this gallery and love it would be an understatement. It houses my heart and soul

We would never be here without you. Our artists. Our collectors. Our friends and fans. Everyone who has walked through our doors, bought a piece of art, attended an opening, shared a post, told someone about us, or simply believed in what we are building. And of course, New Orleans, the strange, beautiful, impossible city that is our home

I’m also incredibly grateful for every person who has worked alongside me over these 7 years. And I love the crew that we have now to no end

7 years in, we’re still independent. Still taking chances. Still fighting. Still putting artists on walls that we believe people need to see. Still climbing the fucking ladder. And we’re nowhere near finished

We have three more exhibitions before closing 2026 @inscopeart_ Miami, and trust me, we’re saving some of the best for last

But first, we celebrate

Thursday 10/8, 7-10PM, we’re celebrating seven years of Mortal Machine during the opening reception for George Napolitano’s “Origin Stories” at 940 Royal Street

Come raise a glass with us. Seven years down. Thank you for keeping this beautiful machine alive

We love yall❤️⚜️

Is being stuck behind a second line a valid excuse to be late to work?

In New Orleans, the answer is obviously yes. You were participating in local culture against your will.

Anyway, come argue with us from a Pilates machine at Devotion Studios 216 Chartres. #neworleans #nola #pilates #frenchquarter #local
