“Hi my name is Amber, I’m 22 years old and I am a Chronic Illness Fighter. Although I may look fine on the outside, I’ve suffered from several invisible illnesses for almost 5 years! The one I’d like to bring attention to is Endometriosis. Endometriosis is when the lining of your uterus grows outside of it and onto your other organs and causes adhesions leading to infertility, pain and your organs being stuck together. There is no cure for it and the medications woman are put on to help slow down this awful disease can cause life long side effects and potential bone loss. I’ve suffered with pelvic pain and other debilitating symptoms since I was 18. I received my diagnosis in Oct 2018 by an a Endometriosis Specialist. I had my Exploratory Laparoscopy on January 9th 2020. I was told I had Stage 3 Endometriosis. It was on my Ovaries, Fallopian Tubes, Bladder, Bowel and my Spine. I also have Adenmyosis which is Endometriosis that grows inside your uterus instead of outside of it. These illnesses need more AWARENESS. Although it’s benign, it can grow just as fast as cancer. The only site Endometriosis has not been found is the Spleen. Why does it occur? endometrium (womb lining) flows backwards, called “Retrograde Bleeding” out through the fallopian tubes and into the abdomen. This tissue then implants itself on organs in the pelvis and grows. The Yellow A.W.A.R.E necklace represents my fight, my journey, my blood, sweat and tears! I do have a “Rare” Disease but it’s actually just as common as Asthma and Diabetes. There’s just not enough awareness and I want to change that! I will continue to share my story and bring awareness to people for as long as I can because not only am I a Chronic Illness Fighter, but I’m also an Advocate for those that aren’t getting the help they need. I am 1-10 who suffer from Endometriosis. You are not alone.” @chronically__imperfect 💛 #awarecauses
