That’s a wrap for @naidex_show 2026! 🙌🎬

Thank you so much to everyone who came to our biggest Sociability Naidex Afterparty yet! It was incredible to see so many of you there, all of the familiar faces and new ones too. 🎉

Whether you come with friends or on your own, seeing people make new connections, build friendships, and come back to more of our events is exactly why we do this!

Being able to share that sense of community in person means so much to us. We’ve grown a lot over the past few years, and it’s incredible to see that reflected in moments like this.💙

We’ve got lots of exciting things coming up this year, from new app updates to plenty more Community Days.

Want to join a Sociability Community event? Keep an eye out for the full calendar dropping on our socials and website very soon 👀

We can’t wait to see you all again soon! 👋

As the year comes to an end you will see a lot of positive end of year round ups of achievements, and as a chronically ill person you may feel a bit defeatist.
But I ask you to remember what you've really achieved.
You did the greatest and bravest thing of all
You've fought to live each day
When sometimes the odds have been against you.
You took it day by day
And you survived.

Without realising you've probably had some small but big wins too, and they deserve to be celebrated.

YOU deserve to be celebrated.

I decided as a last minute call out to ask the community what they felt they had either achieved or was proud of this year.
I think it's important to try to recognise that within ourselves.

Without tipping into toxic positivity, I just want my fellow chronic illness friends to realise how much strength it takes each day to keep going when you are in such immense pain and struggling with so many symptoms.

I really hope this year brought you some glimmers amongst the storm and I hope the next coming year brings some break throughs in research, medical validation but most of all some peace for us all.

If you would like to share, I'd love for you to comment something you are proud of or have achieved this year, no matter how small you think it is, celebrate that!

Thank you to all the contributors in the comments.

Thank you to @dougieslifewithmecfs for being a pair of second eyes, and @natalietrosh for being a cheerleader, when I probably took on too much & @apaperhaven for image help!

I hope this brings a smile to your face and helps you recognise some glimmers within your year.

Our chronic illness isn't going anywhere but we can hope for a better year ahead...

Happy new year friends, be kind to yourself.
As where there is life, there is hope.

Lots of love

#Acces ID: a montage of different photos of people within the community, alongside their achievements this year. The overall point of the reel is showing that no matter how small an achievement is, it should be celebrated. End of ID

Did you know there are 8 million+ people with a long-term health condition (LTHC) that restricts their ability to work? This doesn’t mean that we don’t want to work, or that we’re not trying hard enough - it means that there are very real barriers we face. Our focus should be on breaking down these barriers, rather than placing prejudice and blame on individuals.

It’s time to #ChangeTheNarrative.

You tell us more disabled people should be employed, but propose cuts to Access To Work so we don’t have the adjustments we need to do our jobs. You tell us you’ll improve employment support, but threaten the social support that we rely on to live. You tell us we belong in work, but the lack of nuance in these discussions is hurting millions of us already.

Some people with LTHCs aren’t well enough to work, but there are many of us who are actively seeking accessible opportunities.

We have talents and skills that make us an asset to the workforce, but there are many barriers we face. And until we tackle those barriers, nothing can change.

So, instead of further sanctioning disabled people, here’s what we want to see instead:

- More flexible working options, including remote and reduced-hours roles, so we can manage our conditions and retain our quality of life.

- Training on energy limiting conditions for employers, to help them understand the barriers we face and how to combat them.

- Nuance in the conversation about who can or cannot work, and recognising that LTHCs affect everybody differently.

- Improved protection of workplace adjustments and Access To Work so people are not left without the support they require.

- Investment in organisations and lived experience experts who provide meaningful solutions for this community.

Penalising disabled people and reducing their social support won’t make the world of work more inclusive. Now is the time to listen to our voices and work *with* us to change this narrative for good.

At Astriid, we provide bespoke training to employers, organisations and recruiters, and share information and resources for individuals seeking work. Ready to join us? Find out more on our website, linked in our bio!
