Today was a beautiful reminder of what happens when a community comes together with purpose. Next up: meet Shannon Dasch AMPT Brand Ambassador™ Current Hometown: Garland TX, originally from Philadelphia, PA Years Engaged in Running: 4 years Favorite Running/Walking Distance: 5K First Race: 2022 Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot Most Memorable Race: 2024 Dallas BMW Half Marathon (this race was just 15 months after I completed my last chemo treatment for colon cancer) About Me: “I started running in 2022 after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. What began as a way to improve my health quickly became an important form of self-care and mental clarity. In 2023, I was diagnosed with stage 3B colon cancer and Lynch Syndrome, which made running even more meaningful in my life. It helped me stay grounded and gave me a healthy outlet during a challenging time. Along the way, I’ve found incredible support and connection through the running community. It’s a conversation that could help save a life. 🩵🦋🩵 I’m excited to share the extended version of my NBC 5 Talk Street interview—a deeper conversation about ovarian cancer, the signs and symptoms we should ALL know, and why awareness matters long after September ends. I had the honor of sitting alongside my friend and ovarian cancer survivor @chubby_unicorn_13, Shannon Dasch, as she shared part of her story. Every time a survivor uses her voice, she gives another woman the opportunity to recognize a symptom, ask a question, advocate for herself, or simply know that she isn’t alone. That is why I do this work. As Central Regional Manager for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, I have the privilege of connecting survivors, caregivers, and families with FREE programs, resources, education, and support—but we can only help people who know we’re here. 🩵 So I’m asking you to do one thing: SHARE THIS VIDEO. Taking the mission to the airwaves! 🎥🩵🦋 What a special experience sitting down with NBC 5’s Talk Street to talk about a mission that is so close to my heart—the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition—and our upcoming Dallas Together in TEAL® 5K Fun Run & 1 Mile Walk on September 26! It was especially meaningful to sit alongside my friend @chubby_unicorn_13 as she shared her personal journey with ovarian cancer.
