August 🥹 thank you for stabilizing me in the ways I needed. For providing clarity, deepening truth, and expanding experiences to be grateful for.

This year has been really tough on me mentally and I hadn’t realized it. Thankful for reminders that life gets to be playful, soft, and compassionate despite all the pain and suffering existing in this world today.

Thankful for these moments that contribute so deeply to peace and growth 🫂💗🕊️

I walked out of this event more emotional than I expected.

Not just because of the tea ceremony, but because I realized how much my life has changed over the past few months.

When I started Wellness Wherever, it was simply an excuse to get out of the house. I had no idea where it would take me.

It all started with a ferry ride. Then came a calligraphy class. Since then, I’ve played Double Dutch, visited museums, made Play Doh at the Whitney, created a birthday experience for my mom, explored Camp Crayola, and now I’m sitting in a traditional Chinese tea ceremony at the Brooklyn Public Library.

This has been one of the hardest seasons of my life, and I’m not grateful for the layoff. But I am grateful that I chose to keep looking for joy anyway.

For the first time, I can honestly say I’m proud of myself. Twenty four episodes later, Wellness Wherever has become so much more than a series. It’s becoming the life I want to build. A life filled with learning, creativity, culture, community, and joy.

If you’re in a difficult season right now, whether you’re navigating a layoff, a career transition, or another unexpected chapter, I hope you don’t stop looking for joy.

Joy didn’t find me. I had to go looking for it. ❤️

Caribbean Heritage Month may be celebrated in June, but here in Brooklyn, we live it every day.

From our food and traditions to our stories and people, the Caribbean is woven into the fabric of this borough.

Together, we explored the history, flavors, and cultural significance of one of Haiti’s most beloved condiments while celebrating the richness of Haitian culture through food.

as women’s month comes to a close (although does it really end?!) I am softened, inspired, and nourished by the many stories, connections, and voices I got to hear and experience this week.

I learned that I am inspired by women and the worlds we build. I’m inspired by the creative pulse, the devotion, and the love we pour into reaching to make this world a better place.

I’m inspired by black women and our capacity to still wish to create despite the levels of imbalance we face in several areas. I am grateful to know women who refuse to accept those imbalances as inhibitors of what we came here to create.

I am grateful to live according to the heart that God placed in me, and to share that within my community as softly, gently, passionately, and clearly as I can. I am grateful to leave space for error and learning along the way as well.

I’m grateful for intimate spaces for connection and real life. For reminders that trusting yourself is the most rewarding thing we will ever do.

Grateful for the thresholds I’m walking through.
