I believe that unniyappam, pua, and banana bread are basically cousins.

Food is the common thread that brings us all together, no matter where we’re from. 🧵✨

For me, unniyappam is pure nostalgia. It instantly reminds me of the ‘pua’ and ‘thekua’ I grew up eating. That’s exactly why I add a little fennel to my batter—to bring those childhood flavors home. 🌿

The craving actually started while I was baking fermented banana bread. I realized they share the same DNA: simple ingredients, deep flavors, and that unmistakable deliciousness.
