Following Jesus was never meant to be about seeking our own glory—it’s about learning to love like Christ 🤍

Philippians 2:5–8 shows us the posture Jesus modeled: humility, obedience, sacrifice, and a willingness to lay Himself down for others. And as the Church—the body of Christ—we’re called to have that same mindset toward one another.

Church is more than gathering together on Sunday. It’s learning to serve without needing recognition, love when it costs us something, and put the needs of others before our own.

Because when we choose the way of Jesus over our own glory, we show the world what the Church is supposed to look like 🙌🏽

Peter didn’t walk on water by staying in the boat. He had to trust the voice of Jesus enough to step out of what felt safe and familiar 🤍

“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
“Come,” he said. — Matthew 14:28–29

Sometimes our “boat” is our comfort zone—the place where we feel secure, in control, and know what to expect. But following Jesus may require us to step beyond what’s comfortable and trust Him with what comes next.

The question isn’t always, “Do I feel ready?” Sometimes it’s, “Did Jesus tell me to come?” 🙌🏽

When He says come, will you step out of the boat? 🌊

🏅SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT: CITYPOINT COMMUNITY CHURCH🏅

We’re excited to welcome back CityPoint Community Church as a sponsor of the Bronzeville 5K Run/Walk & Kids Dash!

Located in the heart of Bronzeville, CityPoint is a socially conscious church committed to putting faith into action and making an impact both inside and outside the walls of the church. Through ministry, community programming, service and outreach, CityPoint continues to create opportunities for people and families to connect, grow and give back.

Their commitment to community and compassion makes the church a natural partner for the Bronzeville 5K, and we’re grateful for their continued investment in an event that brings our neighborhood together while supporting student-athletes at schools in Bronzeville.

Thank you, @citypointcc, for continuing to show up for Bronzeville and for supporting our mission!
