Get to know the 2026 International Food Sovereignty Prize winner, World Alliance of Mobile Indigenous Peoples & Pastoralists (WAMIP @wamip.global ). The Food Sovereignty Prize serves as an alternative to the corporate World Food Prize, to uplift movement solutions to the agro industry.

Khalid, Global Coordinator of WAMIP, discusses the challenges facing pastoralists amid increasing prejudice, land privatization and dispossession. In a world built on the bedrock of borders and private property, WAMIP’s powerful international organizing asserts the rights to freedom of movement, stewardship of the commons, and food sovereignty beyond one plot of land.

Episode 3 is out!

⚖️🇵🇸 In our third episode of The Palestinian People vs. The Zionist Occupation, we sit down with Raji Sourani, an expert witness and one of the most prominent Palestinian Human Rights lawyers. Raji has spent his livelihood defending the rights of Palestinians’ at the International Criminal Court of Justice, zionist military courts, and national jurisdictions across Europe. As founder of the Palestinian Center of Human Rights (PCHR) in Gaza, he and his team of lawyers have documented and archived the violations of Palestinian rights by military courts and the military courts. In 2024, he and his team of lawyers provided the evidentiary basis for South Africa’s legal case against the zionist occupation at the International Court of Justice.
In our conversation, we talk about the state of taking the zionist occupation to court for violations of international law, his team’s archiving and preserving of evidence at a time of genocide, and what the tribunal means to him as a strategy for Palestinian liberation.

We want to note that this is one of our more sobering conversations from this series. Tune in, listen with your heart, rise with us. The Palestinian People vs. The Zionist Occupation is a We Rise Production. Listen wherever you get your podcasts. Click 🔗 in bio to listen now!

Tell Congress to say NO to the “Affordability and Jobs Act” (BAAJA)

Big Business and lawmakers say they need to cut through the “red tape” so projects can be built faster. But what they really mean is they want to cut protections for people.

We are not red tape. ❌

Our precious health, air, wai, 'āina and the climate deserve protection. ❤️🌻. This dirty deal puts all that we love at risk.

The so-called “Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act” (BAAJA) is scheduled for a Senate vote on November 9, 2026. If passed into law, this bill would seriously weaken climate and environmental protections, and our rights.

This dirty deal eviscerates every foundational environmental law that was fought for, in large part, by frontline communities to safeguard public health, and protect our air, water, land, and neighborhoods. That includes the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, legislation to protect Native Hawaiian and Tribes’ sacred sites, and measures to reduce the disproportionate pollution burden borne by Indigenous peoples and Tribal Nations, Black, Latinx, Asian Pacific Islander, and poor and rural white communities.

While it is possible that modest long-term increases in renewable energy may occur in the future, they will be negated by the demands of data centers and the long-term lock-in of fossil fuel infrastructure. Even if the United States shifts towards renewable energy, fossil fuels will simply be exported, but the costs to the environment, the courts, Tribal Nations and communities will be catastrophic.

📞 Call Senators Hirono and Schatz today! Tell them to vote NO on the “Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act” (BAAJA)

Contact Senator Hirono at:
Phone # DC: 202-224-6361
Phone # HI: 808-522-8970

Contact Senator Schatz at:
Phone # DC: (202) 224-3934
Phone # HI: (808) 523-2061

Tell them this bill is a threat to Native Hawaiian cultural sites, & will sacrifice public health by giving industry a free pass to never have to consider us, & the human, environmental, and climate impacts… all to line the pockets of billionaires who could care less about jobs, affordability, our health, or the climate.

Episode 3 of Ask A Human is out now! Welcome to Ask A Human, our show where we ask incredible human beings common questions people are asking AI. The human-generated answers and the connections we make when we exchange ideas and concepts with each other is something that AI will never be able to replicate, AND it comes without the negative ecological, economic, and health impacts that AI infrastructure and data centers impose on our communities!

In our third episode we talk with the incredible Rad Pereira, an artist whose creative practices range from social sculpture, to popular theatrical and TV/film performance, to participatory liberatory artmaking and healing that weaves together an Afro-futurist longing for transformative justice and queer (re)Indigenization of culture.

Every month we’ll ask kind, smart, and thoughtful humans a different question. New episodes drop every week. What questions do you want us to ask next? Let us know in the comments below ⬇️

And remember – Save Water, Ask A Human 💧

This episode was filmed in Durham, North Carolina on unceded Lumbee territory.

Ask A Human was created, directed, produced and edited by @jalena.kl the show is hosted by @jalena.kl and @la.curandoula with sonic branding by @jeffreyjbyron and visual branding by @buwaya.ritual

Last month at NYC climate week we had visitors from all over the world gather to discuss climate solutions led by and for the peoples most intimately connected to the impacts of climate crisis. United in challenging the myth of false corporate solutions that lead with greed and fear, and centering community self-determination.

It’s a privilege to hear perspectives from and weave relations with peoples of the global south and Indigenous peoples of the global majority on these themes.

There is no climate solution or right relationship with land without globalizing our struggles.

Nearly 40 million people face some level of housing insecurity or rent- and mortgage-burden. Furthermore, too many low-income rental units are in a state of disrepair leaving many marginalized communities dealing with lead paint, leaking roofs, mold, and other toxic issues. A majority of people are one or two paychecks away from being evicted, while many Asian and Pacific Islander, Black and Brown communities are continually displaced due to land speculation and gentrification. Our homes must not be commodified in ways that leave people out. Our homes, in all forms, must be secure, safe, affordable, healthy, and central to a thriving community.
