Vintage. Modern. Chic. Local. And a little sweet.

Eclectic - it’s how we like our books AND our sponsors! Be sure to stop by their booth or visit their shop for your next trinket or TBR addition (we don’t judge).

Sponsors like these make our event possible, supporting our mission to support the growing literary community in NWA through celebration and gentle reading practices. If you’re interested in sponsoring a future event please visit our website or sent us a DM!

Had a wonderful time today with the faculty, students, faculty at @ucahonors where I gave a talk titled “Heart Work” about how Black feminist love ethics guides the @cl_collaboratory literacy advocacy in Arkansas and nationally.

Thank you to Honors College Dean Patricia Smith for the invitation to share more about what the Brown Chair in English Literacy at the University of Arkansas does through the CLC to collaborate with other literacy workers to aid all Arkansans and community partners in several other states practice literacy fluently, productively, and joyfully.

As Audre Lorde said “I am who I am, doing what I came to do.” I am grateful every day for a job wherein I get to do my work, and the community-accountable and Ancestor led discernment to remain clear about the distinction between them and where they are best braided to transformative effect.

To God and the Ancestor helping spirits be the glory. Onward!

It’s National Arts in Education Week!

At Books & Blooms, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to discover their voice through the magic of books and the power of creativity.

When children read, write, draw, and create, they’re not just learning… they’re building confidence, expressing their feelings, and discovering that their ideas matter.

Through literacy and art, we help children grow from little seeds into blooming storytellers, artists, and dreamers.

Every child has a story to tell, and every imagination deserves room to bloom. Here’s to making space for creativity in every classroom, library, and community!

So grateful that Northwest Arkansas has places like @mytbydesign @amazeum @crystalbridgesmuseum and many more that create spaces for children to explore and grow their imagination. And for partners like @cl_collaboratory who believes in spreading a love of literacy!

So excited that Julia @juliarose5678 and me will be in conversation with the wonderful @ayanagray_ in two weeks at @nwabookfest on September 26 at @waltonartscenter !

We’ll be discussing Gray’s latest @nytimes Bestseller and @usatoday Bestseller #HawkAndSparrow which is also @gmabookclub pick. A book signing will follow.

Thank you to our friends and fellows literacy advocates and literary culture workers at NWA Book Fest for such a wonderful opportunity. There will be 35 authors total represented, additional panels, and vendors including our @cl_collaboratory booth where you can stop by for free giveaways and spin to win a free book! It’s going to be a lot of fun. See you all there. 💜🙏🏿🧿

From GMA TO NWA…

Ayana Gray is a favorite among our board, from her YA series to her breakout success with I, Medusa (add it to your TBR, trust us). And just in time for Book Fest, her new release, Hawk and Sparrow was selected as GMA’s YA Book Club pick for September!

Hawk & Sparrow is a YA gilded-age historical fantasy romance novel that’s also a murder mystery, with a dash of magic. Ayana will be joining Dr. Eric Darnell Pritchard & Julia Jensen of Community Literacies Collaboratory (featured in our video) at 1:00pm for a Q&A deep dive to learn all about this exciting new story!

Check the pinned post for full schedule details and (book)mark your calendar. We’ll see you there!
