[EB010] Meet EB Venezia, by Alan Madić and Clara Dousson, a typeface inspired by the work produced for Olivetti and their typewriters. Designed in 1976 for the TES 501 electronic typewriter, a typeface named “Venezia” served as the basis for Madić and Dousson’s new typeface. After an initial version, called “Extra” and designed whilst they were students, Madić and Dousson developed the design further into these smooth, rounded shapes, contrasting with the rigidity of typefaces for typewriters. They have developed a unique system of units allowing the typeface to have proportional spacing whilst remaining constrained within a precise grid, giving EB Venezia a pleasant texture for continuous reading. The availability of several weights, from light to bold, makes it suitable for use across a wide range of media, from signage and book design to logos. The typeface is still in development and will have an extended character set, fitting Électro-bibliothèque’s standard. Italics are also in production and will be ready for the final release, scheduled for the end of 2026. Called “Avant-première”, our beta program allows you to try and buy our upcoming typefaces. La deuxième édition du festival s’ouvre avec une soirée de conférences au @maclyon en compagnie de Clara Dousson, Cédric Rossignol-Brunet, Sara Thion et Aurélien Thomas La billetterie gratuite est ouverte. Jauge limitée mais les conférences seront retransmises en direct dans le hall du musée pour les retardataires. On trinquera au Mac Bar dès la fin des conférences pour fêter l’ouverture de cette deuxième édition ! Encore merci au @maclyon_officiel pour son accueil et son soutien ! La suite des conférences s’écrit avec @claradousson, qui interroge la lettre comme image et comme outil de pensée. Le jeudi 30 avril dès 18h30 au @maclyon_officiel ! Clara est designer graphique basée à Paris, travaillant principalement dans les domaines de l’art et de la culture. Le dessin de caractère est un de ses principaux moyens d’expression pour façonner et articuler des idées. Son travail explore les lettres comme formes visuelles à part entière, capables de produire du sens autant que des images. Elle développe notamment des caractères de titrage singuliers, aux formes affirmées et visuellement impactantes. Ses recherches et productions oscillent entre expérimentation et héritage historique. Elle met sa pratique du dessin de caractères au service de projets de commande variés (édition, identité visuelle ou encore logotypes) tout en développant parallèlement des projets personnels en collaboration avec des fonderies.
