Over the weekend, I had a chance to attend a new edition of the Children's Books Ireland National Conference, this year focused on the theme of "Power". Being a international gathering for kids writers in Ireland and abroad, it was a great chance to remind me of how strong our community is. I loved getting to chat authors I've been acquainted with for over a year now getting recognition like E.R Murray who I haven't seen in nearly a year since the launch of "Arabella Pepper". Newly crowned Lauetere Na nÓg for Children's Literature in Northern Ireland Stephen Daly gave a special reading of "The Last Death Poet", at the event and Oran Doyle and Alan Nolan, both having new books that I am/have highlighted on my radio show with "Give Me'Til Midnight" and "TGCCC: Lights, Camera, Mayhem!". Beyond that, I really enjoyed visitors of our country, who gave incredible lectures on the importance of power and using it's influence to benefit others. Particularly Dapo Adeola and Agnes Török, who aimed to use their reach to positively improve the lives of kids through books and allowing them to see themselves in their work. Really great selections from the conference team this year, the strengths and courage everyone have in their respected fields. Thank you very much to @kidsbooksirel for hosting the conference and to its main speakers at the event. Looking forward to the next event you guys host. (Also ran our of profile tags during the makings of this post, really sorry if you aren't featured here!) #childrensbooksireland #cbiconf26 #irishkidsbooks #irishbooks #kidsbooks

What a June! Shoutout to @sea___sadbh for the ink, @blintermagazine for the lovely Solstice interview, and @hagcraftfarm for making me a beautiful handmade dress for Florence (lace in the first slide is also @hagcraftfarm Kimberly is so talented)! 🖤 I wish I had more selfies from Florence because so many of you were there. Loved getting to dance with everyone! In addition to all these firsts I also got to spend a week of June exploring Cork with my besties from the states. 🌊 Truly a jam packed month with no signs of the momentum stopping — headed to Sligo this weekend! Should go without saying but none of these slides were made with AI. I’m just a girl with a Canva subscription and a dream. #junedump #ireland #florenceandthemachine #ogham

TLC is happy to launch Heretic! An alternative pride happening on the 9th-11th of July. As the world grows more hostile and attempts to push us to the fringes, Heretic is about reclaiming power and revelling in existing outside the status quo. Like our pagan ancestors fleeing desolation, we will keep the traditions of the weird and wonderful alive through revelry and being unapologetically ourselves. Focusing on the joy of community between the outcast and the rejection of the norm. The alternative slate of events will run concurrently to the main pride and will focus on queer and trans+ voices through art, poetry, writing and performance. Though trans led, Heretic! Is open to all to attend and is being organised with some brilliant voices from the community, Ashley Awe tism, Jack Trehy, Clara Latherty, Eleanor Valentine and Matthew O’Rourke

Sure, Galentine's Day is great, but have you ever been to a @rurooie event? Last week we were lucky enough to host Ruth's book launch for #Shorelines, her debut verse novel for Young Adults, and believe me when I tell you that all the love for her and the book could not be contained and was bursting out of the room. It all kicked off with energetic and incredible words from @littleislandbks team, first @matthewp.b and then @sineadisediting, smoothly followed by a heartfelt introduction to Ruth's work by @propermiss. After a standing applause, Ruth was kind enough to read for us and sign for hours, the signing queue had to snake around the shop! Thank you to all the #bookish crowd showing up against all stormy weather odds, it was such a delight to witness such support for one of our #GutterGirls. Signed copies available in Temple Bar and online, with dedications on request. #BookLaunch #Event

Last night I was at the official launch of "Shorelines", Ruth Ennis' debut verse novel at the Gutter Bookshop in Temple Bar. Given how long Ruth has worked in the children's book world, offering recommendations and hosting classes dedicated to the field, it was a great feeling getting to see her add her own story to the medium. And to see so many people turn out in support of her title, admist the poor weather outside. Sincere congratulations to @rurooie for her debut, @littleislandbks for publishing it, alongside the @gutterbookshop for hosting the event. #versenovel #youngadultbook #littleislandbooks #poetry #booklaunch
