A watch worthy of an artist’s eye.

Few figures shaped the visual culture of the 20th century quite like Andy Warhol. From his iconic portraits of Marilyn Monroe to his legendary presence in New York’s art and social scene, Warhol understood that true luxury was as much about individuality as it was about extravagance.

An avid watch collector, Warhol owned seven Piaget timepieces, including the extraordinary Black Tie he acquired in 1973. His affection for the unconventional design became so closely associated with the model that Piaget officially renamed it the Andy Warhol in his honor.

This particular example is a beautiful expression of that legacy. Its remarkable blue quartz stone dial possesses an almost painterly quality, with natural variations of deep blue creating a surface that feels more like a work of art than a traditional watch face. Framed by a sculptural 18k rose gold case with Piaget’s signature stepped detailing, the result is unmistakably 1970s glamour, reimagined for the modern collector.

Tradition was never meant to be ordinary.

The Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Tourbillon is a beautiful study in contrasts. A captivating green sunburst dial brings a contemporary spirit to one of watchmaking’s most traditional complications. Same era. Two very different stories.

Two extraordinary examples of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Ref. 5402ST, both belonging to the exceptionally rare D-Series. Dating from 1978 to 1989, the D-Series represents one of the rarest chapters in Royal Oak history, with just 404 examples recorded.

Despite sharing the same origins, time has treated these two watches very differently. One has developed a beautiful, pronounced patina, while the other has retained much of its original dial color. A fascinating reminder that no two vintage watches age quite alike.

More than four decades later, each tells its own story. Two watches born from the same era, yet entirely unique in character.

Some watches are rare by production. Others are rare by circumstance.

This early Laurent Ferrier Galet Square—now known as the Square Micro-Rotor—was produced as part of a limited edition of just 10 pieces for Chicago retailer Swiss Fine Timing. More remarkably, it is the only known Galet Square to have been executed with a black enamel dial, giving an already distinctive case architecture an unusually dramatic presence.

Presented in excellent to mint condition, this example is accompanied by its original Laurent Ferrier box, papers, and Certificate of Origin dated February 2022.

The limited edition has long since sold out and is no longer available through Laurent Ferrier authorized points of sale, making this a particularly compelling example from the maison’s earlier years—quiet, beautifully finished, and exceptionally difficult to encounter.

1. The Tiffany & Co. Stamp — Patek Philippe’s historic relationship with Tiffany & Co. has produced some of the most coveted double-signed dials in watch collecting. A small stamp with enormous significance.

2. Greubel Forsey’s 30° Inclined Balance Wheel — It may look purely architectural, but the angle serves a technical purpose. By inclining the balance, Greubel Forsey aims to reduce the effects of gravity on timekeeping across different wrist positions.

3. Cartier’s Ruby Cabochon Crown — One of those details you could easily miss. Traditionally associated with Cartier’s platinum watches, the ruby cabochon is a subtle signal to the keen-eyed collector that the case is crafted in PT950 platinum.
