In this week’s issue, we indulged our love of craft with a deep dive into the expressive papier-mâché world of Meritxell Claverol, an artist transforming humble materials into gloriously oversized vessels.

Beautiful craft, moving life stories and a trip to the fields of Catalunya. Here is an excerpt.

Our next newsletter guest will be the incredible Meritxell Claverol, mother of the gigantic papier-mâché vessels.

Her practice begins with post-consumer materials: wrappings, cardboard and discarded paper, objects once destined to disappear. Through careful transformation, she gives these remnants a new life, weaving fragility and resilience into gorgeous one-of-a-kind pieces.

In our next issue, we dive into her origin story, process, and meet the people and places that shaped her work.
