As I approach my 80th year, it seemed like the right moment to undertake a book project.

Please join me on Saturday, June 27th, from 1-4PM at Masters Gallery @mastersyyc for a book launch and exhibit titled Land and Figure: Paintings by Dulcie Foo Fat

Masters Gallery will present this exhibit from June 25th - July 4th. @mastersyyc @parkerpr

I was motivated to create a book as a way of gathering six decades of paintings into a lasting record of my artwork - in a way that could be enjoyed publicly, by family, friends, and lovers of art.

Both the book and the exhibition have helped me reflect on paintings that I myself have not seen for years or even decades, and I am excited to share some of these artworks with you!

The creation of a book has been insightful for me as an artist. I have been able to view my work as a whole - to trace its evolution over time, and to discover how older paintings may stand the test of time.

I hope to see you at the exhibit, please say hello if you are there.

Sun Creek is out now. I hope these songs find you when you need them, like so many songs have found me when I did.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this album, to Brock for understanding my intention and making it possible. To my wonderful family and friends and to the earth 🌈

🖤JM

🌈 Sun Creek comes out tomorrow and my heart is full of reflection

The time spent recording Sun Creek in the spring and summer of last year was full of personal growth, meeting beautiful people, forming new friendships and memories I will cherish always.

The last two shots are my first and last moments in the studio for this album. I could never have imagined the album would turn out the way it did. I went in with 10 songs and my guitar, and what evolved is something I am deeply proud of.

I'm so honoured to have worked with
@brock__geiger
@kuevaro
@waynepgarrett
@natetootshisownhorn
@cambuie
@cleaanais and
@chris.dadge

Who's creativity, kindness and patience lent immeasurably to an album made with love.

The ability to work with these wonderful humans is thanks to funding from @afa.1991, for which I am very grateful.

This song is Two Hands Together, the first track on the album. It's about friendship and being supported through times of growth, change, grief and resilience, which is very much how I feel, looking back over this footage taken while recording @studiobsound

Until tomorrow,

JM 🖤

Little film dump from the back half of last year. I got discouraged from posting these earlier because some of the colour rolls got messed up by the lab so it took a lot of wrestling to get them to this point, that’s what I get for being too lazy to do it myself. But now with some shows on the horizon seeing these just makes me excited to spend time with these wonderful people again!
