We report 2023 days of Reports From Unknown Places!
I usually like to take milestones as excuses to try something new and confusing with Reports. This year, I missed the 5-year anniversary back in March, so the 2000 days anniversary had to be extra new and confusing. I made one report for each hour of the day: small squares drawn with wax pastels, interrupted sentences, one short minute at a time.
In the end, the sky is the sky, so a temporary change in format like this can still make sense, which is nice to realise. I do have to say, after trying this out, I have no plans to start posting hourly! We’ll keep doing the daily thing.
Thank you so much for paying attention to this project, whether you have a look once in a while, or it’s a daily meeting. This means a lot to me. A picture of 24 small pastel drawings on a green cutting mat, all depicting a different sky, progressing through a whole day.

One report for each month of 2023, plus some honorary mentions. 4 cropped digital paintings stacked on top of one another:
A dark twilight sky with a dark blue, almost black sky, taking up most of it. There are city lights dotting the black landscape underneath.
A blue sky with the sun encircled by many halos and arcs.
A dark starry night sky. The milky way runs across the frame, a lighter shade and filled with more stars than the rest of the sky.
Many pouch-like clouds stacked against one another. They are tinted bright orange, pink and purple in a sunset lighting.

Completely forgot to post about this here.
Here's a prototype for the collection of year 2 of Reports From Unknown Places (@clever_reports) printed by the incredible @ooblik!

I'm working on a solution to make it more accessible than last year's collection in terms of pricing. Bear with me! I'll keep you all updated.

Here is the accompanying foreword that I wrote:
"We report:

You might think that I’ve already written everything I wanted to say about the sky, but this second collection is proof that I really have not, and probably never will manage to do so. There are things that are so unbelievably big and all-encompassing that every word seems to become inadequate in their presence; so, Reports From Unknown Places is, to me, an oblique path to talking about the sky and the weather through drawing, painting, and writing.

Clouds form and move in parallel steps to landscapes, and landscapes ease and lie down under the clouds; we, between the sky and the Earth, are constantly attempting to find our footing, the wavelengths that we are navigating.

Everyone’s relationship with the sky is different, and it is a privilege to be able to share what mine is like with other people — and to have other people reach out and tell me what the sky looks like through their eyes.

I hope that many people get to develop this intimate and precious relationship, in their own way, and in their own time."

Yesterday, Reports From Unknown Places (About Undescribable Events) officially turned two years old. I really thought the overly long name was funny at first but every time I'm trying to explain the concept to someone, it haunts me. Even the acronym is too long. RFUPAUE? Really?
This past year of reports has been even more fun than the first one, I learned so many things and I was able to talk to many great people thanks to this little project! I could never have imagined I'd still be doing this every single day 2 years later.
I am very thankful to all of you who look at the reports and read the captions, whether it's every day or just once in a while. I feel very lucky to be able to share my love of, I guess, the sky, the clouds, the weather with other people.
I want to keep going for as long as possible! Here are a few reports I really loved making this past year.
I hope to be able to make a collection this year as well, crossing fingers!
