🌾💼 Bringing you heartfelt takeaways from two wonderful voices in “The Politics of Rice” session at Bangkok Climate Action Week 2026! 🌍📉
👩‍💼🎙️ Khun Dada (Imelda Bacudo - Climate Finance and Partnership Engagement, FAO) gently reminds us of the massive financial puzzle: transforming our sustainable food systems requires around $600 billion! 💸🌱 But by coming together to repurpose existing harmful agricultural subsidies, we can truly secure the funds needed for a sustainable future. 🔄🌾
🗣️ In reality, however, “politics” remains a tough hurdle along our shared journey. 🏛️❌ What we can do together is ensure that policymakers and communities truly “own” these innovative ideas hand-in-hand, turning grassroots voices into a powerful force for lasting change! 🤝✨
👩‍🎨🌿 Khun Alison (Alison Asawaroengchai - Climate Communicator & Community Organizer) lovingly shares how current government subsidies still lean heavily toward industrial farming, impacting both our precious environment and our farmers’ well-being. 📉🌾
💡✨ It’s time for us to stand together, advocate for change, and redirect these funds toward ecological farming while empowering farmers to thrive side-by-side with our community! ✊💚
🌿📍 See you again next year! Please stay connected, share your stories, and grow with us right here at @foodsystems.community! 🗓️🚀
🥗💬 We would love to hear from you—what are your thoughts on this journey? Drop by and share your heart in the comments below! 💬💚

They’re not just here to score the pitches. 👀

At the Food Systems Innovation Challenge Grand Finals, our jury brings together perspectives from across the food systems landscape, from international organisations and NGOs to research, finance and the private sector.

Besides putting our student teams to the test during the Dragon’s Den, they’ll also take the stage for a panel discussion, sharing their own perspectives and experience with the audience.

Want to hear what they have to say AND see which student innovations stand up to their questions?

Join us on 29 September at Omnia, Wageningen University & Research, or follow the Finals online.

📚 One soil. Three Rio Conventions. A lot of shared ground.

Climate change, biodiversity loss and land degradation are often tackled through separate global agendas. But beneath them sits a common foundation: soil health.

The second release in our COP17 Mongolia Knowledge Products series, “How Healthy Soil Aligns the Rio Conventions and Global Agendas”, explores how soil health can help connect action across the UNCCD, CBD and UNFCCC, while also contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals.

It looks at opportunities to better integrate soil health into national policies, monitoring and reporting — from LDN targets and NDCs to NAPs and NBSAPs — reducing duplication and strengthening the evidence available for decision-making.

The message is simple: healthier soils can deliver across multiple agendas, but doing so requires better coordination across policy, finance, science and implementation — and the meaningful participation of farmers, pastoralists, Indigenous Peoples, women, youth and local communities.

With all three Rio Conventions holding COPs in 2026, there is a timely opportunity to move beyond recognising these connections and embed soil health more firmly in how countries plan, implement, monitor and invest.

📚 New knowledge series launching at COP17 Mongolia

As global conversations shape the future of land, climate and biodiversity, the Coalition of Action 4 Soil Health (CA4SH) and partners are launching a new series of three knowledge products as part of the COPSoil Initiative ⬇️

➡️ Restoring Rangelands from the Ground Up: Soil Health as the Foundation of Inclusive Land Restoration
➡️ How Healthy Soil Aligns with the Global Rio Conventions Agendas
➡️ From Soil Data to Action: The Role of Soil Information Systems for the Rio Conventions

Three resources, one shared message: Healthy soil is a unifying foundation across the three Rio Conventions and global agendas, and robust soil evidence from diverse knowledge systems enables coherent policy and coordinated action.

🚀 Last week, CA4SH Co-Lead Dr Leigh Winowiecki joined leaders from across Africa at Clim-Eat’s UNLOCK: Scaling IMPLEM-EAT - a working convening focused on one question: how do we move from ambition to implementation?

Rather than a traditional conference, UNLOCK brought together decision-makers to co-design practical pathways for scaling regenerative agriculture, strengthening nutrition-sensitive food systems, unlocking finance, and building momentum toward COP31.

Leigh contributed to discussions on repurposing agricultural subsidies to better support healthy soils, exploring how public investment can accelerate regenerative practices, strengthen farmer resilience, and deliver long-term benefits for food systems, climate, and livelihoods.

For CA4SH, these conversations reinforced that healthy soils are the foundation of resilient food systems. Turning evidence into action requires strong partnerships, aligned policy, and investment that supports farmers and landscapes at scale.

Day 2 at @ldnclimateweek. We addressed a key goal: producing cheap and sustainable food while also supporting farmers and their operations. For this, we need financing mechanism that are realistic, inclusive, and empathetic with producers. At #lcaw2026, the willingness to make this happen is there.

It's #EarthDay 🌱!

A healthy planet is the foundation of good #nutrition.

Across SUN countries, communities are linking climate, food systems and nutrition — but need practical support and financing to scale impact.

Let's invest in nutrition. Let's protect our people and planet.

Pembuatan kebijakan seringkali belum melibatkan suara akar rumput seperti petani.
