What started with tea, biscuits and a few friends has just won a global innovation prize.

We’re celebrating Eezu Tan, co-founder of @climatewriters and a WELA Giving Circle member.

From those early gatherings, Climate Writers has grown into a national community helping young people turn climate concern into civic action.

As a Giving Circle member, Eezu is also part of a community backing grassroots organisations to grow their impact - which makes this moment especially worth celebrating.

We love spotlighting changemakers in our community, especially those who remind us that big change can start small.

What kind of future do you want to create?šŸŒŽšŸ”®

What does it look, feel, sound, taste sound like? What values does it stand for?

I believe the future isn’t fixed. It’s shaped by the choices we make today and the stories we tell about tomorrow.

As Australia prepares to co-host COP31, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to help shape that future.

We’re home to one of the largest ocean jurisdictions on Earth. We have abundant sun and wind, world-leading renewable energy potential, incredible young leaders, and the world’s oldest continuing cultures. We also share connections with our Pacific neighbours, who are already leading on climate resilience.

Now I’d love to hear your ideal future. šŸ‘‡

Let’s build a shared vision worth fighting for, because we young people hold the power to re-write the future for the better.

Slide 9 is my favourite šŸ’™

2 months ago I moved states to run this launch, and I had no idea if it would work.

Turns out the same thing that makes our program work makes a room work too. Reduce the friction, and get people to do the hard thing together instead of alone. That’s Friend Bingo, that downloading a brief at the same time, that’s the wall of ideas that had 80 strangers realising how much they already knew.

None of it was ours alone, most of it came from mentors, our own program, even a podcast. If you’re building your own launch, campaign or club, take whatever’s useful here. We’re still ambitous to make things even better.

Couldn’t make it? Here’s how to work with us:

1) Looking for solutions? Use FOREfront, our Policy Library of One-Page Briefs.
2) Got a proposed solution? Email, text or DM us and we’ll look at turning it into a brief.
3) Want to add your support to a brief? If you’re an expert on that topic, ask to be added to that briefs public support list.

If you were in the room, thank you. If you weren’t, there’s plenty of room at the next one.

This is just the beginning and we’re so glad you’re joining us FORE the ride!

Making friends in your 20s is such a funny thing.

One minute you’re surrounded by people at school or uni, and the next you’re actively scheduling ā€œfriendship timeā€ into your calendar.

One of the best things I’ve ever done is join communities centred around things I care about. Not only do you get to make a positive impact, you also end up meeting some pretty incredible humans along the way.

Here are a few communities worth checking out:
• @trashfishrecycled
• @clubmoss__
• @nothingoninsydney
• @climatewriters
• @youth4climatejustice
• @diversforclimate
• @coexistaus
• @intrepidlandcare
• @landcareaustralia
• @wattlevolunteers
• @ausyouthclimatecoalition
• @seedmob
• @risingtideau
• @schoolstrike4climate
• @globalvoicesau
• @ecomind_

And I’m sure I’ve forgotten some amazing community groups! If you’re part of one (or know of one), drop their @handle in the comments below so we can help more people find their community šŸ‘‡
