Meet the Advisor: Kate Mercado

A New Rochelle native, I’m thrilled to be raising my son in my hometown, allowing our family to experience a cosmopolitan lifestyle with suburban charm. Since 2018, I’ve served on New Rochelle’s Planning Board, contributing to the city’s dynamic downtown development. A former PTA President, I enjoy volunteering at school events.

What’s one thing you wish you knew when you were a first time home buyer? Understanding the patience and practicality required to maintain and upgrade a home. My house is nearly a century old, not uncommon for Westchester. Having a network of reliable service providers has been invaluable in my journey.

Credentials & Experience: As an Associate Broker at Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty, I’ve been selling residential real estate for 9 years with over 120 closed transactions. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Marymount Manhattan College, and a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from The College of New Rochelle. I previously worked as an Art Therapist at Jacobi Medical Center’s Inpatient Psychiatric Unit. My professional background contributes to my values; strong client relationships and ethics, excellent communication and listening skills, patience, empathy, building trust, and solving problems creatively.

Hobbies: I play Pickleball several times a week, I love visiting museums and restaurants in NYC, and cooking for family and friends. My family and I are very active, enjoying outdoor concerts, local events, evening walks, and board games and puzzles by the fire on winter nights. Travel tops our most cherished pastime as a family. We love experiencing different cultures, foods, landscapes, history, visiting national parks and going somewhere we’ve never been before!

Favorite Local Spots: Maria, Krave, Modern, and Pizzeria La Rosa for sit-down dinners. TownHouse in New Rochelle for cocktails and small bites at the bar. Coromandel and Tzatziki Grill for Indian and Greek take out. Harpoon Hannas for good vibes and great coffee, try the Lavender Oat Milk Latte. Visit the waterfront at Glen Island, Davenport or Hudson Parks, or hit The Leatherstocking Trail for easy hiking.
