Beyond excited to share this episode with the fastest American in Berlin history @cls1423 🎙️

Such a good conversation, and I’ll sure be interested in trying out the uphill treadmill workouts @mountainroche prescribed him!

2:09:33, 4:56 minutes per mile pace, top American man at the Berlin Marathon (and I believe the fastest American ever at Berlin, though I might be wrong). Charlie Sweeney stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park.

It’s just the start of where @cls1423 is going (we can revisit this post when he becomes a 2028 dark horse). But it’s nowhere near the start of what he has done to get here.

Charlie has worn the rubber off the bottom of hundreds of pairs of running shoes, molecule by molecule. And now, I think he’s a dozen or so more pairs away from having a shot at doing something even more unthinkable than top American at Berlin.

I can’t wait to see what happens over the next few years after he grinds some more of that rubber down to the molecules. The trial of miles continues. Watch out world 🔥🦖
