First Annual Karlie’s Light Scholarship Recipients!
The first Karlie’s Light Scholarships were awarded on September 12, 2026, to two dancers at The Dance Academy during the grand opening celebration of their new studio space.

These scholarships were created to honor Karlie’s love of dance and to support young dancers whose own love, joy, and passion for dance shine brightly.

It was an incredible honor to recognize two dancers whose passion, joy, and ability to light up a room remind us of the lasting impact we can make through the way we love, encourage, and inspire others.

Our hope is that these scholarships encourage each recipient to continue carrying forward the torch Karlie carried so beautifully — living with joy, loving boldly, and sharing their light wherever they go.

Because Karlie’s light was never meant to end with her. It lives on in every life she touched and in every person who chooses to carry it forward.

Happy 19th, Karlie.

Time feels strange without you — like the world kept moving, but a part of me stayed with you. It feels even stranger to say that out loud, like time kept moving for the world but paused somewhere soft and sacred where you are.

I still think of you in the smallest moments, the ones you would’ve made brighter. Grief isn’t loud like I thought it would be at first. It’s quiet. It lives in the spaces where you should be — in the silence, in the laughter that lingers a second too long, in the ache of missing you in moments you would have loved. I still catch myself wanting to text you, to tell you something small and “stupid”, because you were always the one who made everything feel so much lighter.

Yesterday was Earth Day, and I kept thinking about how you’re a part of everything now. In the air, in the trees, in the warmth of the sun on my skin. It’s comforting and heartbreaking at the same time — like the world is holding pieces of you I can’t quite reach, but can still feel.

I hope wherever you are, Karlie, it’s soft and full of light as you always were. I hope you know how deeply you’re loved in ways that haven’t faded and never will.

I carry you with me in everything. Love you always ♾️

Karlie,

Today marks 1 year of you being gone. Grief is an evil thing and can be hidden, shown, forgotten, and remembered. Though you are not physically here, your existence is everywhere. Your existence is in the sky when there’s a dash of pink during sunrise or sunset. Your existence is when I listen to K-pop or hear an uncontrollable laugh. Your existence is in every move I make when I dance. Grieving you has been the hardest thing because you are everywhere. You will always exist and you will always be loved. I hope you and Daisy are reunited up there and I hope you see how you continue to live on through many. Forever a dancing queen, beautiful, sweet, and 17. I love you.

2022…The only solo Karlie ever did! And it was amazing. The Song is I know (I do not own the rights to this song)…but this was choreographed by @hailey.gillette Listening to the words now bring such a different meaning, and it brought me to tears then, because of how proud I was of her for stepping out of her comfort zone, but now the words bring me to tears because she is no longer with us and you hear the lyrics differently. What an amazing piece and she will forever be dancing. 🩷🌸🪽
