POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Yesterday, dozens of community members, advocates, and leaders from across King County gathered at North SeaTac Park to tour the 45 acres the City of SeaTac hopes to acquire through King County Conservation Futures funding.

It has taken years of work to reach this point, and it’s a meaningful moment for all of us in South King County. Seeing so many groups come together, from local rugby teams and biking communities to the Highline Botanical Garden volunteers and the Defenders of the Highline Forest, alongside Port leadership and City of SeaTac councilmembers, shows just how deeply people care about protecting this space.

I’m hopeful as we move forward with the grant application, and I’m deeply grateful to Commissioner Hasegawa and Commissioner Fred Felleman for their support in preserving this parkland.

Honored to Celebrate and Recognize Women’s History Month with Global Perinatal Services 🎉

It was a true privilege to present this year’s Women’s History Month Proclamation to the incredible team @globalperinatalservices

Faisa Farole, Executive Director & Founder
Niha Dhillon, Director of Programs
Zeinab Farole, Communications & Resource Development Manager

Their mission is powerful: ensuring every family has access to culturally rooted, respectful, and empowering pregnancy and parenting support.

Their work centers two essential goals:

1️⃣ Guiding families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with doula support that reduces medical interventions and provides emotional, physical, and informational care every step of the way.

2️⃣ Educating low‑income, refugee, and immigrant families through classes and workshops on safe pregnancy, birth, and baby‑care practices.

Just days before the proclamation, I had the joy of attending their beautiful community iftar, where we learned more about the free, life‑changing services they provide.

As a mother who experienced complications in both pregnancies, I know how critical culturally responsive pre‑ and postpartum care is.

I am deeply grateful for the commitment this team brings to our community, to women, pregnant people, doulas, mothers, infants, and children who rely on these programs, this education, and this unwavering support.

Here’s to honoring the women who uplift families, strengthen communities, and build a more equitable future every day. 💛✨

Also, huge shout out to the two incredible women I serve with on Council, CM Konya and CM Abdullahi.
