Yesterday reminded me why we cannot afford to stop showing up.

I started my morning in New Holly, spending hours discussing gun violence prevention, protecting our children, police accountability, and community-driven solutions.

Then went on to celebrate with incredible community leaders at ACHD’s beautiful gala.

And somewhere between the smiles and photos, Bilan and I locked eyes and just started crying.

No words. Just tears. Because we understood.

The late nights. The sacrifices. The time away from our babies. The weight of caring so deeply about the communities we love.

This work is beautiful. And it is heavy.

We are mothers. Women. Leaders. But above all, we are human.

And with news of more violence impacting our children, I’m reminded why we cannot become numb, lose hope, or stop doing the work.

Because this has never been just about us. It’s about our children, our communities, and the world we’re leaving behind.

We are part of something bigger than ourselves.

So grateful for ACHD’s incredible leadership team Mama Hamdi and Bilan, the community leaders, business partners, the young people, and everyone who reminds us that none of us can do this alone.

Here’s to building a better world, without losing our humanity along the way. ❤️

"Mayor Egal has served as Mayor of the City of SeaTac since January 9, 2024, following his election to the City Council in 2022. In his current role, he chairs the Planning & Economic Development Committee and the Hotel/Motel Tax Advisory Committee, while also serving on the Parks & Recreation Committee, Soundside Alliance Policy Committee, and as an alternate member of the Highline Forum. He previously chaired the Sidewalk Advisory Committee.

Professionally, Mayor Egal is a King County Municipal Court Interpreter, Seniors Affordable Housing Services Coordinator, and Certified Crime Prevention Advisor. He brings more than 15 years of experience in social and human services, including managing casework through Senior Housing for Ageless Generation (SHAG) and serving as a Program Manager and Community Engagement Specialist with Somali Community Services of Seattle.

Mayor Egal lives in SeaTac with his children and grandchildren. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Agriculture from Somali National University in Mogadishu, Somalia, and a Senior Leadership Certificate from Washington LeadingAge Institute in Tacoma, Washington."

Last month, we celebrated the grand opening of Métier Brewing Company in SeaTac! ✨

We're excited to officially welcome Métier Brewing Company to the SeaTac business community! As a Black-owned brewery, Métier is dedicated to crafting exceptional beverages while creating meaningful experiences that bring people together.

Their SeaTac location is also serving as a SeaTac Global Soccer Game Fan Zone, making it the perfect place to catch the final FIFA World Cup matches. With large screens streaming the games, live entertainment featuring singers, dancers, and DJs, plus local vendors offering food, drinks, desserts, and community resources, there's still time to join in on the excitement before the tournament wraps up!
